Payout: 1st $9,000, 9th - $800, 5401-7500 - $3
Another very early exit for me. Things looked promising early on. Hand 3 as BB I had pocket A's (As Ac). Three players, including SB, limped w/30 and I raised to 210; UTG+1 called. Flop Jd 6d 2s. Not bad for my A's. I decide to try a check raise, but UTG+1 checks back. Turn 3h. I bet 240 into the 480 pot and UTG+1 folds.
Hand 8, my disastrous hand. I'm MP1 w/pocket 10's (10d 10s). UTG limps in w/40 and I raise to 100, MP2 calls, as does UTG. Flop 5s Jh 9c. Only one over card. UTG checks and I bet 180 into the 360 pot. MP2 folds and UTG raises to 360 and I call. I don't like that. Does he have an overpair or a set? Turn 3d. UTG bets 420 into the 1080 pot. Phooey. I call, but don't have a good feeling about my hand at this point. Folding was the better option. River 8c. So near yet so far from a straight. UTG bets 380 into the 1920 pot and once again I call. He shows pocket 5's hitting a set on the Flop. Grrrr. I'm down to 890 chips.
I suppose, if I'd re-raised him after the flop with a strong re-raise, with two overcards to his 5's and my pre-flop 2 1/2 BB raise to his limp, I might have got him to fold his set. In any event, if I had done that I'd hardly be any worse off, and by just calling I showed weakness in my hand.
Hand 20 was another one where the cards didn't go my way. I'm the SB w/5d 8s, 790 chips; blinds 40/80. Action folds to me and I decide to just limp in w/80; BB calls. Flop 5c Qc 8c. Crap. I hit two pair BUT the flop also shows a possible flush already. :-/ I check and the BB bets 80 into the 160 pot and I decide I might as well go for it and raise all-in, BB calls. I'm hoping that at worse BB has a flush draw, BUT as it turns out they already have the flush with their 3c Jc. :-/ :-/ Grrr again. I don't feel as bad about this one as I needed more chips and felt the gamble was worth the risk.
