2 HU $5 + .50 End 1st 15 Hands

Generally ok play. I wasn't sure which way this one was going to go. I was down a few chips early on because he usually bet 3 BB from the SB and I had to fold, so he was making small gains on me. Around hand 12 I took a small chips lead and then we came to the final hand.

Hand 15. I was BB w/1480 chips and pocket A's (Ad Ah). Blinds had just increased to 15/30. SB, as he usually did, open raised to 3 BB and I called. Flop 5h 3s 6d. I'd have rather seen a better mix of cards as those suggest a possible straight or straight draw. I check to see what the SB will do and he bets the pot of 180 and I raise him to 360. SB surprised and re-raised all-in with 1400. Crap, are my A's going to be cracked? My main thought was that he'd hit the straight; 4 2 or 4 7 would do it and I've been caught that way before. It did not enter my mind, which it should have, that he might also have hit a set. I opted to call. I think I would have even if I'd thought about his having a set. Either my pocket A's are good, or they're not and if I lose, so be it. Another surprise, he shows pocket 9's. I did not expect an all-in raise with cards that low. Maybe my more passive play earlier let him to not believe my doubling his bet meant I had something, or maybe it was just that all three of those cards where smaller than his 9's. Maybe he saw the same straight draws as me and didn't want me to hang around for them. Anyway I was a firm favorite. Turn 8h. River 6s. My A's hold, it's over and I win!!
