9 SNG Turbo 3 min blinds 50 FTP Sat to Daily Dollar End 7th 9 hands

Decided to try this one just to experment with Turbo 3 min blinds.Started out trying an Ac 9c w/a limp but was raised by SB to 230 so folded.  Next was pocket 2's that I had to call a 90 raise to see the flop.with. . Flop was Ac Jh 8d and I folded to a 120 raise. Next tried a limp from EP2 that was raised to 100 & I called. Flop was 5s 5c 9s checked by the 4 of us. Turn 3h I checked and later folded to a 120 raise.

Hand 7 I had Ac 9h as SB, Button limped, I limped and BB checked. Flop 8s 5c Ad. I bet the pot of 150, BB called and Button folded. Turn 3c, I checked, BB bet 250 into 450 pot & I called. River Qh, again I check and BB check's. BB turns over 8d 6d and I win.

Hand 9, last hand. I have Kh Qd in CO position. HJ bets 2 BB and I call Button & BB fold. Flop is Kc 6c 3c. It hits my K but also shows potential flush for HJ. HJ checks and I bet pot of 250; HJ calls. Turn Ks giving me trip K's.HJ & I both check. River is a Jh. HJ goes all in w/1540 chips and I decide to call since he didn't do anything on turn. He has nut flush and I'm outta there!

Again it's one of those situation where I don't take enough time to think what the other player who goes all-in might have and why would they risk most of their chips if they didn't feel they would win. The only obvious thing that I might have that would beat him would be a FH so his bet was a bit gutzy too.

It was still early and even though it was a turbo I still had time to get more chips and wait for a better situation to get myself all-in with.

As an aside, I'd be better served to look for FTP situations that give me more bang for my FTP points. The Daily Dollar only cost a buck which I can easily afford, so I don't need to waste 50 FTP points for that that tournament.

18 SNG $1 + .20 End 11th 39 hands

Mostly OK play at best; meaning I folded most of the hands I should. Was lucky on hand 13 with Kh 4c trying a blind steal (no limps) and BB w/9c8c called. Flop was Ah Jc Kc and I bet 150 into a 225 pot to see where I stood. BB just called. We both checked on the turn, 7d, and the river Ad, letting my pair of K's win.

Lucky again in hand 18. As BB I had Ac 5h and called limp from MP. Flop waa Ad Kc 6d, I bet 1/2 pot (90) and was called. Turn 10c and I bet 1/2 pot (180) again and MP called. Flop was 2c showing a possible flush might be out there. I checked and MP bet 240 into the 720 pot & I decided to call hoping my A's with weak kicker might win. MP showed Jc 5d and I won. I could have easily been beat but took weak flop and turn calls by MP meant he likely didn't have much. That got me up to 2200 chips.

Hand 21 I had pocket 10's in the CO position. HJ limped and I raised to 2 1/2 BB (210), BB called (same person who was in hand 18). Flop was 8d 6d 2c. BB bet 60 into 510 pot and I raised to 270. BB folded. I now had 2560 chips.

Hand 23 was the start of my downfall. I had Ah Qs UTG and opened w/2 BB bet. Button (same player as in hand 18 & 21) and BB called. Flop Kc Ad As. BB bet 80 into 520 pot, I and button called. Turn 10s. BB bet 480 into 760 pot, I raised to 960, and Button went all in w/1270 chips. Both BB & I called.

I didn't give much though to what the button might have; rather I decided he didn't have a K, so I thought my Ace trips would be good. I also didn't think the BB had a K, though I was concerned with their opeing bet that round. River was a 6c. BB & I checked. Then came the bad news. The button had Qd Jh having hit a straight on the turn. BB only had Ac 5d; having a much weaker kicker then I expected. I was now down to 1050 chips.

Hard for me to say if I could have gotten the Button off his hand on earlier betting, as other players from his country shown tend to be willing to gamble on a wide range of cards.  Say if I had bet at least 3 BB or 3 1/2 BB pre-flop would he have folded? Maybe the BB would have. However, once he hit the staright on the turn he took it for all it was worth.

Lesson hopefully learned here? When a 480 bet I raise to 960 and in turn I'm raised to 1270 (by an all-in person), I need to STOP and take TIME to THINK about WHY he may have done that. Knowing he could play a wide range of cards what might he have hit? Was it worth adding another 310 of my chips to the pot, total 3,470 at that point? Yes I was getting good pot odds I could still hit a gutshot straight or a full house (it looks like I have about 14 outs to better my trip A's), and yes, the answer could be I should call. But FIRST I really need to take the time to think that out and know better what kind of gamble I'm taking.

By hand 38 I'd increased my chip stack to 2100, on the Button w/pocket 5's I hoped to increase it more, but didn't hit the flop (Ks Kc 4c). All checked the flop. Turn was 9c and I called a limp bet. River was a 2c and I folded to bets, cutting me back to 1900 chips.

Hand 39 from the CO postion I had Ah Kc, raised the UTG limp from 120 to 420, and BB went all-in for 3,315 chips. Same person I've been in wtih the previous hands here. I thiought about it for a bit and decided to take a chance that he didn't have AA or KK and hope I have at least 2 over cards. That part of my plan worked as he had pocket 4's, much weaker then I would expect for an all-in raise. The flop: 2c 9s 8h; the turn 8c;a nd the river 3s. All over for me.

I don't feel bad about this last one as I felt I made the call with good cards against a person who has a wide range of betting hands that I could expect my overcards to be able to beat. Poker stove has it 46/54 his favor.

2 HU $2 + .15 Won 12 hands

A somewhat difficult session in terms of deciding when to play a hand. My opponent decided to go all-in every hand, except one (not sure why he was different on that one hand). I took the approach of either folding or sometimes trying a limp when I was the small blind and folding if he went all-in. Part of my thought here was that I would be making it difficult for him to know if I had a good hand and when I did I could call one of his all-in's and hope for the best.

I did this for the 1st 9 hands and decided to call him with Kh Jd. He had 2h 6c. Flop was 8d 4d 2d. Darn, he hit a pair of 2's, but I have diamond flush draw and 2 overcards. Turn was a kc and the river 6d, so I paired my K's and hit the flush to beat his 2 pair. He was now down to 340 chips and I didn't expect him to behave any differently. He didn't dissapoint me. :-)

Folded 72s on the next hand and decided to call him with Qc Jd next hand. He had 6d 9d. The flop: Qh 10c Ac, hitting my Q. Turn Kh giving me a staright. River was a useless 3c. Game over I win!! :-)

2 HU $1 +.10 Lost

Wow one of those where things just didn't go my way! Only 15 hands against a player who had a play money tournament in his list of upcoming sessions and a freeroll. He tended to bet in odd fashion so it was hard to get a good feel of what he had. The bad news hands.

Hand 5. I had pocket 4's he opened with a 4 BB bet from the button and I called. The flop was 5s 7c Ks I made a min bet and he raised me to 340 and I decided to fold. He showed me his pocket 2's. Maybe that was an early sign of what was to come. :-/

Hand 7.  I had 5d 6d and just called his limp. Flop 3s Ah 3h. I bet the pot (40) to see what he'll do and he  has folded some hands to raises. He raises me twice my bet.I call. 6c falls on the turn giving me a pair with the boards' pair. He bets 120 and I call feeling he doesn't have the Ace nor a 3 for a set. River is an 8. I check and he checks. The river paired hsi 8 to go with his paired 6 on the turn. I lose. Now basically on that hand I'd have been best to fold earlier when he made the 120 bet on the turn and maybe just as well folding on the flop. I have pretty weak cards and though the 6 hit my kicker isn't very good either. My brain seems to be thinking that he isn't that great of a player instead of deciding what is best even with a not great player in terms of the cards I had.

Hand 9. I was the BB with Ks 6s and just called his limp. Flop Kc 4d 2s. Not too bad for my K but I wish I had a better kicker. I check and he bets 20, I call. Turn 2d pairing the board. He checks & I check. River 3h. Since I've heard little from him I bet the pot of 80. To my surprise he doubles my bet to 160.Not giving him credit for having anything I call. He shows Kh 2h having hit a FH on the turn.  OK another one that didn't go my way AND one I didn't think enough about what my opponent might have based on the texture of the board.

Hand 10, my J4o beat his J7s and I got a few of my chips back. A few hands later comes the last hand.

Hand 15. In BB I have 7s 5s and call his 3BB (60) bet. Flop Js 9h 9s. I bet 1/2 pot (60) to check him out and going for a flush draw and he doubles me to 120. I call without giving it much thought nor considering what he might have. I'm on a flush draw!! Turn 3s and I hit my flush. I bet the pot (360) hoping he also didn't hit the flush and if he only had one spade in his hand, hopefully get him off of a flush draw on the river. He goes all in and if I call will puts me all in as well. I think about it a bit and decide to call hoping he doesn't have the flush. He turns up his cards and YEAH he doesn't. He has Ah 9c, just trips and it looks pretty good me as long as the board doesn't pair.

I forgot about one other out he has that showed up on the river 9d and he hits QUADS. Over and out for me!! Grrrrrr. As is often said, "That's poker folks." Glad this was only a $1 session.

Lessons learned, 1) be careful at underestimating your opponent and 2) take better care in your card selection.

9 SNG $2.25 End 7th

Off to a poor start and down 410 chips by hand 4. Hand 2, SB w/78o, limp to UTG limp. Flop 7h 9s Ah, bet 1/2 pot (60), a raise to 120, a call & I call. Qs on turn. All check. River Kd, all check. Other 2 players had Ax and chopped the pot.

Hand 4, I'm CO, no limpers, try steal w/3 BB bet (90), button & BB calls. Flop 4c 9d 4h. all check. Turn Ac. Button bets 200, I call. Not a good decision. Gambling on fllush draw and that Jc would be high enough to win. River Qh. Button bets 330 and I fold.

Two hands I should have stayed out of and now I'm down 410 chips.

Make a come back hand 11 w/As Kc SB and Bet 4 1/2 BB's to two limpers (180); UTG & EP limpers call. Flop 3s 2c 2s. I bet 250 (a little under the pot) and UTG folds and EP raises to 500. I think about it a bit and decide they likely didn't hit the flop and probably don't have a big pair, so I re-raise them to 870 putting me all in, they call. They have Ah Qc. River is Jh, I win and am back in the game.

Hand 20 I do myself in again. On button I have Ad 9c. No limps to me, I bet slightly more then 3 BB's, SB folds & BB calls. Flop: 3d 2d Jc. BB bets 300 I call.  I don't really see a good reason for having done that at this point in the hand. At best I have Ace high at the moment. The turn is Qd giving me a nut flush draw on the river. BB now bets 1020 all in and I decided to call, gambling on the nut flush draw. River is a 3c. BB had Jd 10h and wins with a pair of J's. I am now back to 770 chips.

There really aren't any good reasons for my letting all those chips go so early in the session with 8 players still left. It's one of the ways I kill myself when playing.

By hand 50 I was back to 1680 chips and after QQ in hand 51 I was up to 2155. On hand 52 I decided w/Ah 9c in the CO position and no limpers to try & steal the 60/120 blinds and bet 360. The button folded and the SB with their last 915 chips went all-in, the BB folded. I think about it a bit then decide to chance it and call. SB had 6d 6c. The flop was 6s 9d 8c, hitting both of us but gave the SB a set. Turn Jc, River 5d. Leaving me w/1240 chips.

On hand 58 I had pocket 2's on the Button. No callers to me, and per poker group's Loki Excel chart as low stack I should go all-in. I did. SB calls and has Ac Ah. Nothing changes over the next 5 cards. I'm out in 7th place.

18 SNG $2.25 - 47 hands Ended 10th

Played pretty decent poker until 35th hand. Couldn't let go of QQ in spite of signs I'd not win with it. Called 2 BB bet from Button. Flop was Ks 3s 4d. Just checked as did other 2 players. Turn 5c. Bet 240 to two checks and was checked raised to 480. Other player folded and I called. River was 7s. Indicating possible flush, also possible straight. Neither of which I could beat. Last player bet 550 (little under 1/3 of pot) and I called. He had Ah 2d. Had hit straight on turn.

It looks like there were three things I should have done. The first was to bet on the flop say around 1/2 the pot. If other players didn't have a K, there's a good chance they'd have folded. If they raised it's a good chance I should fold.

The 2nd, when I was checked raised on the turn I could have folded, but since the raise was only another 240, calling to see the river might be ok.

The 3rd, when the other player bet approx 1/3 of the pot on the riverI should have just folded. If I'd done that, I'd still have been in decent chip shape .

Four hands later with 8h 10s in the BB after a 2s 9h 8d flop with cheap 180 bets on the turn and river by the other player, I called and lost to Kd 9d. Though possible to get a gut shot straight it really wasn't necessary to lose those chips.

Hand 45 was very costlly to my remaining chips. As SB i had 3s 4c, no limpers so I bet 2BB to the BB and they called (blinds 200/400). Flop was 7c 5h 3h giving me bottom pair and a gutshot straight draw. I bet 1/2 the pot.and was called by BB. Turn was 5d. I and BB checked and the turn was a Qh. BB bet 200 (very small bet to 1600 in pot) and I folded. BB showed As Qd. Till the river I had him BUT I'd have been better off not to have entered that hand at all or, at best limped all the way and folded to any bet. That left me with only 415 chips.

Two hands later I had pocket 10's and went all in. Three of the other 4 players called.  Cards showed 8d 6d 3h 6s 2d, but the Button had Jd Jh and I was done.

I need to learn to be careful with my chips all the way to end and not let myself give them up un-necessarily in situations where I'm much more likely to lose then to win.

Rush 6 person .05/.10 100 hands start $4 end $11.38

1st Rush I've played where I've come out ahead. Decided to try, suggestion from Wed group player to stress pocket pairs turning in to sets .... set mining as he calls it. I also checked played when I was in the big blind and some good cards other then pairs such as AK, AQ. Tried some blind stealing but had mixed results and found myself losing that battle more often then not so cut way back on the times I tried to steal.

1st decent win was QQ with a scarey A on the flop. Beat Q 10. Best near double up was with JJ that hit the set with a Qs Jx 5d flop.Raised $1.10 bet to $2.20.  Was called. Turn was a 2s whcih made for a possible flush. Opted to risk it and went all in with $4.85 to other players $4.55. They called showing As Qc. Held my breath for the river and held with a 7d showing up. Best round of this short session. Had $13.28 at 50 hands

A start at getting back the aprox $79 I'd gone down in previous Rush sessions. I need to be very careful with playing Rush. It's not really the kind of poker where you can play with skill against other players. You don't know how the play went after you fold as you are immediately sent to the next hand, nor do you get any real feel for the other players that may be a few hundered in the field.

27 SNG 90 FTPpoints to play Turbo 3 min blinds Sat to MIdnight Madness

Only one winner.

Ended 16th. Didn't play well. Played too many hands and didn't back out early enough when winning looked less likely. May or may not play more of these for practice in near future.

50 FTP Satilite to $750K 1st 2500FTP, 2- 200 FTP

Ended 4th out of 54. Over all my play was ok. Lots of very loose players with several folks betting on each round. I tended to play good hands and 1st three I played were AA, KK, and QQ winning with all. Did some gambling with loose player with hands like AQ expecting them to have undercards of some kind. This proved to be true and the other player didn't suck out on the river.

Play was more difficult when we got to the final table and I tried a bit looser play to see what would happend when I tried limping. Mixed results, but found I was losing chips more often than I was winning. I need to learn how to better bet the rounds at this point in a MTT SNG.

Overall I was pleased with my play. When I do this again and do as well as at getting myself to the final table I'll be pleased.
