Tour 64 End 1-11 Won Entry Hands 75 Sat to MSOP #3

Things went well this tourney and I got very, very lucky in one early hand I should have folded in.

Hand 11. I'm CO w/Ks 7s. UTG+1 limps in w/50, I call as does the SB, BB checks. Flop Js 6s 9s. I hit the 2nd high nut flush. Action is checked to me and I bet the 200 pot. SB calls and rest fold. Now what does that mean? Do they have a nut flush draw? Do they alredy have the nut flush? Turn 4s. Great. Not what I wanted to see. If they have the Ace of spades I lose!! SB just checks and I bet 250 into the 600 pot and they raise me all-in w/thier last 855 chips. Hmmmm. Would they do that if they didn't have the nut flush? Unfortunately there is only one way for me to find out and I decide to call them, leaving me w/70 chips. SB shows Qs 3c, the 3rd high nut flush. I win and have 2380 chips.

Hand 17. I'm BB w/Kh Qc. Action folds to CO who open raises 3 1/2 BB (210), BTN calls, SB folds and I call. Flop Ah 4s Jh. I have 1/2 the usual open ended straight, and runner, runner flush draw. I check, the CO checks and the BTN bets 150 into the 660 pot. I and the CO call. Turn 3c. No help to me. This time all three of us check. River Kc. I pair my K. I make a min bet of 150 into the 1110 pot, the CO calls, and the BTN folds. The CO shows pocket Q's (Qd Qh). I win and have 3180 chips.

Hand 29. This is the hand where I should have folded but got lucky and sucked out! I'm CO w/Ks Js. Action folds to me and I open raise 3 BB (300); maybe I'll pick up the blinds. BTN folds, SB re-raises to 800, BB folds. I wanted to see the flop cheaper than that, think about it a bit, see pot odds are a little over 2 to 1 and call. Flop 3s Jc 6s. I pair my J and have a decent kicker. SB bets 600 into the 1700 pot and I decide to see how serious he is by raising him to 1200, he then re-raises me all-in w/his last 2010 chips. Darn! At this point I should just fold and lick my wounds. It's not likely my J's are a winning pair at this point, but I decide to call anyway. :-/  SB shows pocket K's (Kd Kh). Well, there's only one more K in the deck! Turn As. I now have a nut high flush draw! River 8s. Oh my gosh!!! I WIN!!! My chip count is now up to 6760.

I'm tired, I'm going to stop here for now and not even spell check. Will finish up later today

9 SNG $2 + .25 End 5th 45 hands

Hand 15 says a lot. I was SB w/pocket 4's (4h 4s)  Four players limped in, I called, and BB checked. Flop 7s 7d 7c. Interesting situation. I have a FH but is it any good? Could another player have a bigger pair already? I bet 100 into the 300 pot to see if anyone will drop out. The BB & BTN do. There are 3 of us left. Turn 8s. We all check. River 9c. I check, as does UTG, HJ bets 600. Did he hit the 8 or the 9? Does he have another pair? I reluctantly call, expecting to see a bigger pair. HJ shows 5h 7h. He had the 4th 7!!!! That I did not expect.

However I should not have call that 600. Call's like that are why I'm losing as often as I do. It is not sound poker playing, which is where I need to get myself.

2 HU $2 + .15 End 2nd 91 hands

This was a very frustrating session as it seemed all too often the other player would beat out my good hands. I did err in the final hand by over playing it, and falling trap to his pocket K's. He did have a tendency to underplay very good hands, but I was hoping to catch a break with that last one.

Hand 91, blinds 30/60, I have 790 chips having worked my way back up from 480 chips 15 hands ago. I have 9c 7h. and am BB. He open raises 2 BB (120) and I call. Flop 3h 7d 6c. I have middle pair. I also mis-read the hand to think I had a straight or gutshot straight draw, which I didn't. I bet 60 into the 250 pot and the SB raises me to 300. I didn't take time to think about his bet and what he might be holding to make that big of a raise on me, rather I decide to challenge him, in case he's bluffing and I go all in w/my last 670 chips. He calls and I see the bad news when he shows pocket K's (Kd Kc). I still have outs but it doesn't look good for me. Turn 4d. There is now a chance for a gutshot straight and if that happens we'd chop the pot. River 2s. That's it, over and out.

Early on things looked pretty good for me. Hand 10 I had 4d 5c as SB and open raised 2 BB (40), BB re-raised to 60 and I called. Flop 4c 4s Qh. I hit trip 4's. BB bet 80 and I called. Turn 9c. BB bet 100 and I raises to 200, BB called. Hmm, do they have a 4? FH? River Jh. BB bets 100 and I raise to 200, BB calls. They show Kc Qs, having paired their Q. I win. They are down to 940 chips.

Hand 39. I'm BB w/Kh 5c. SB open raises 2 BB (60) and I call. Flop 4s 4d 3h. I bet 30 into the 120 pot and the SB raises to 60, I call. Turn 6c. I now have an open ended straight draw. I check and SB bets 120; I call. River 2d. I hit my straight. I bet 300 into the 480 pot and the SB calls. They show pocket K's (Ks Kc). I win and they are down to 580 chips.

Hand 48 I had Jh 2s, they had 2h 4s. Flop was Jc 6d 5c. Nice one for me. Turn Kh. River 3h. They hit a gutshot straight. When the Kh fell on the Turn, I just checked, which they did too and I let them see the River at no cost. If I had bet again maybe they would have folded.

Hand 50 was another heartbreaker for me. I'm SB w/As Kh. I open raise 2 BB (40) and BB re-raises me to 80, I re-raise to 160 and they call. Flop 5c 2h Ah. Very nice for my AK. BB checks and I bet 140 into the 320 pot, they raise me to 240, and I re-raise them to 420 and they re-raise me all-in w/their last 280 chips. I call. I was so happy about my Ace that I didn't really think about what they might have. If I had I'd have probably put them on a set. Anyway they show 3d 4d. They hit a straight!! :-/ Though their betting after the flop makes sense to me, I don't understand their pre-flop betting w/34s. Turn 10s. River Kd. We're now just about even again as they have 1440 chips.

Hand 53. This hand shows how they tended to confuse me on what their hands might be. I have 5h 10h. They have Kc 9s. Flop 9h Kh 9c. I have a flush draw, they hit a FH. On the flop I bet 40 into the 160 pot and they just called. On the turn they checked and I checked. On the River they bet 120 into the 240 pot and I called. Though I expected it was likely I was beaten I was really surprised at the strength of their hand. Were they using my oft times aggression against me?

Hand 64. My chip stack had been dwindling and I was down to 615 chips, blinds 25/50, I'm SB w/3d 4c. Cards hit me this time. I decide to just limp in w/50 and BB calls. Flop 4d 6d 3s. I hit two pair and have a flush draw. BB bets 50 and I raise him to 100, he calls. Turn 4s. I have a FH and unless the BB has pocket 6's I have the best FH. BB bets 100 and I raise all-in w/my last 490 chips, BB calls. They show 6s 2d. Just a pair of 6's. I win and am back up to 1280 chips.

Hand 66 I have Ad 10c, BB has 10h 9s. Board plays out: 10d 9d Qs 5d 10s. I'm back down to 730 chips.

Hand 69 was mainly poor play on my part. I had 5h Jd. Board flopped 7h Ah 2h. I had a flush draw. Turn 10h. I now had a flush but if SB has any heart bigger than a 5, I'm beat. River 2c. SB had 8h 6h hitting the flush on the flop, only calling my min bets of 50. I'm down to 480 chips.

That's about it. It would be beneficial to review my play some more and see where I could have played some of those hand better.

Tour 180 $2 + .25 End 50 74 hands

Was off to a very slow start, then finally picked up some chips after the 1st break. However it all came tumbling down not too long after. Last hand was me - Ad Ks vs big stack w/Ah Jc. True to much of my evening he hit a J on the flop and I was done. It was a good chance to double up my stack, just too bad the cards didn't fall my way.

Rush 9 player .05/.10 78 Hands Down $10 Blinds ate $1.15 Rake $0.21

Not well played in general. At 50 hands I was down to $7.59.

Hand 26 I had pocket A's (Ad Ac) in CO position. MP1 open raised to .35 and I raised to .60, rest fold, and MP1 calls. Flop 7c 4c 2d. MP1 checks and I bet .50 into the $1.26 pot, MP1 calls. Turn 3h. Possible straight draw. MP1 checks and I bet .45 into the $2.20 pot. River 3c. That I don't like. It pairs the board as well as shows possible straight. MP1 checks again and I decide to do the same since there are a number of possible ways showing that could beat my pocket A's. MP1 shows pocket 10's (10d 10h). I'm up to $11.09.

Hand 44 I take a hit. Once of those situations where the River made a big improvement to my hand but a better one for the other player. I'm CO w/pocket 10's (10d 10c) and $9.59. MP1 limps in w/.10, folds to me and I raise to .20, rest fold and MP1 calls. Flop Qh Ac 7h. Not the kind of cards I like to see w/pocket 10's. MP1 checks and so do I. Turn 8d. MP1 checks and I bet .20 into the .52 pot; MP1 calls. River 10h. I hit my set, as well as the board showing a possible heart flush. MP1 checks and I bet .45 into the .89 pot and MP1 raises me to .90. For .45 more I have to call. MP1 shows Ks Jh, having hit their gutshot straight on the River and beating my set. I'm down to $8.29.

Hand 74 I mis-played. I'm MP1 w/As 7s and $4.99. UTG w/$2.74 open raises .20, I call, everyone else folds. Flop Qh Ac Kc. No help to my flop, though I do pair my Ace that has a weak kicker. UTG bets $1 and I decide to raise them to $2. At that point I should have just folded! They re-raise me all-in w/their last $1.74 and I call. UTG shows Ah Jd. Better kicker than mine. Turn 6d. River 3h. I'm down to $2.05.

Hand 78 I'm the BTN w/pocket 9's (9d 9c) and $2.15. UTG open raises .35, action folds to me and I call, SB & BB fold. Flop 6d 5d Kc. UTG bets .85 into the .80 pot. I decide to raise all-in w/my last $1.80 in spite of the K showing. UTG calls showing, indeed a K, Kh 10h. Turn 5c River 6h. And my $10 now belongs to other players. Enough for tonight!!

9 SNG $2 + .25 End 7th 44 hands

Went out using LOKI where UTG w/K10o you go all-in. Was called by BB who had Ad Jc and board held for AJ win. Overall I played ok, but on certain critical hands I lost.

Hand 16 was a perk for me. Nine players, blinds 24/50. I'm SB w/Kc Js. Action folds to me and I limp in w/50. BB who is short stack w/580 raises me going all-in. I call. BB shows Qd Jd, which is about what I expected he might have or an Ax. The board plays out 6c 3s 9d 9h 10d. I win and now have 178/0 chips.

Hand 24 was another nice hand and I began to think things were looking up for me!! Eight players left, blinds 30/60. I'm BB w/Ah 3d. UTG and short stack w/710 chips limps in w/60. Action folds to me and I call. Flop Ad As 4c. I have trip A's. I decide to check to see what the short stack does and they check as well. Turn 4h. I now have a FH. I make a small bet of 60 into the 150 pot hoping that is low enough he might toss 60 chips in and they do. River 3c. I now have two FH's, This time I bet 120 into the 270 pot. I don't know if they have a FH as well, but am expecting that most likely we'll chop the pot. They raise me 240 and I re-raise them all-in and they call. I even expect more we're going to chop. They show pocket Q's (Qh Qd). I win and and have 2520 chips. Things are definitely  looking up.

Hand 25. I take a hit. I'm SB w/Ah Qs. UTG+1 and short stack w/710 limps in for 60. Action folds to me and I raise to 210, BB folds, and UTG+1 raises all-in w/their last 650 chips. I call. They show pocket 7's (7d 7s). I have two overcards.  Flop Qc 6c 7h. I pair my Q but they hit their set. Turn 9h. River 2s. I'm down to 1810 chips.

Hand 31 knocks me down again and by the same player as in hand 25. I'm BB w/7s 8s. Seven players and blinds are 30/60. HJ open raises 120, SB & I call. Flop 10c 9d 6c. I flop a straight and one that is not obvious. SB bets 240 into the 360 pot, I & HJ call. Turn Ks. SB checks and I bet 510 into the 1080 pot and the HJ raises me all-in w/1030 chips, SB folds and I call. HJ shows Ac Jc. They have a flush draw. River 3c and I'm down to 510 chips!! Once the HJ had the flush draw I don't think there was anything I could have done to get him to fold and certainly w/a 78s pre-flop I couldn't go all-in pre-flop.

I think that is enough of this for today. I may try a little Rush to see how that goes, but for SNG's, etc. they can wait until tomorrow.

9 SNG $2 + .25 End 9th 3 hands

Well, early try for chips w/KK but ended up against AA and AA held. I debated briefly if his 300 raise to my 105 raise to the limper might mean he has AA, but decided, ilf he does he does. Even if I had just called the way the board played out (2c 3h 10s 8h Jh), except for the straight/flush possibilities on the River, it would have been hard to give up my K's.

Hand one I had AQ but couldn't go any place with it. Maybe a stronger pre-flop bet on the AQ would have helped. Not much else to say about this one.

2 HU $2 + .15 End 2nd 40 hands.

Mixed play on my part with poor play on the last hand. Had a nut flush draw after the flop and couldn't let go of it, even after I missed on the River.

I'm BB w/Ks 9s and 1075 chips. Blinds are 25/50. SB open raises 2 BB (100) and I call. Flop 3d 10s As. My mouth starts watering to see a nut flush!! I bet 100 into the 200 pot and the SB raises to 200. I call. I'm wondering if they might have the flush draw as well or just hit the Ace on the flop. Turn 4d. I check and SB bets 400 into the 600 pot. I call and only have 425 chips left. There was no good reason for me to call there, though pot odd wise it is 2.5 to 1 for me. River 9h. I have no place to go here and check, SB goes all-in w/1175, and I call. I just sort of gave up here and felt too lazy to continue play w/425 chips and just wanted to get this session over. Not a good sign for my poker playing tonight!!

Rush 9 player .05/.10 100 Hands Up $6.03 Blinds ate $1.85 Rake $1.58

Played Rush better tonight. I had mainly one big hand, KK, that I won $6.08 with; 2nd high was JJ I won $3.17 with. Loss wise my biggest was -$1.50 w/AKo that lost to K 10o their hitting a straight on the River. I did a lot more folding then I did the other night and when shown resistance, unless I really had something I folded to wait a better opportunity.

9 SNG $2 + .25 End 4th 94 hands

This was a tough match, after a couple players went out most stayed and played fairly well. I had a nice start in hand 1 w/an Ac Qd that held and then had 2340 chips. By hand 36 there were six of us and my chip stack of 3360 was 2nd in size, big stack had 4010, and the other four between 1040 & 1685.

Hand 40 I had a straight draw that didn't hit and was back to 3060 chips, still 2nd high stack. Hand 49 I tried a blind steal but the BB raised all-in on me so I had to fold. My chip stack was 2240, now 3rd in size. Hand 73 as CO, with 5 of us left, I bet 2 BB (400) w/Kc Js. BB called. Flop 4s 9c 2h. Missed me completely. BB bet 200 and I gave it one more try. Turn 2c. No help and I folded to another 200 BB bet. I'm down to 1700 chips w/blinds 100/200.

Hand 75 I should have gotten out of sooner rather than trying to make something of it. I was BB w/As 7h. Action folded to SB who limped and I checked. Flop 5s 3c 6s. I have a gutshot straight and runner, runner flush draw. SB bets 200 and I rasie to 400 and they re-raise to 600. Guess they hit something there but I call anyway. Turn 3d. No help. SB goes all-in and I fold. I'm down to 900 chips.

By hand 84 I've worked myself back up to 1740 chips and back down to 1380 on hand 94 w/blinds of 150/300.  I'm BB w/Qh 3h. Four of us are left. Action folds to SB who limps in w/300 and I check. Flop 10d 2h 10s. No help to me. SB checks and I bet 300 into the 600 pot to see where I might stand and maybe take it but SB calls. Turn Qs. I pair my Q and decide this is it for my last 780 chips
and after the SB checks I bet all-in and SB calls showing pocket 6/s (6s 6d). Things are looking up for me and I'll be right back in the action with a win! River 6h and my hopes are dashed!!! I'm out on the bubble!

18 SNG $5 + .50 End 10th 29 hands

Things were going ok until hand 24 when I mis-played. I was SB w/Qc 7c, 1200 chips. Six players and blinds were 40/80. UTG limped in w/80, folded to me and I called, BB checked. Flop 5d 10d 4d. No help to me and flush and/or flush draws out there. I bet 80 into the 240 pot in hopes if no-one had diamonds they'd fold; both the BB & UTG called. Turn 7s. I've paired my 7. I check as does everyone else. River 7h. Hmm, I have trip 7's and since no-one has been betting, it's likely no-one has the flush, so I bet 200 into the 480 pot. BB raises me all-in w/970 chips and UTG folds. I didn't spend enough time thinking about what he might have that would beat me, if he didn't have the flush, which I was pretty sure he didn't. I called. BB shows 6d 8s, having hit the striaght on the Turn and not betting it. :-/  I'm down to 110 chips.

Hand 25. I go all-in w/Qd Js vs As 10h and hold, so I'm up to 340. A few more double up's and I'll be back in the game.

Hand 29. I have 5h 6h as BB and go all-in to limp from SB, they call & show Kc 10s, two overcards. The board plays out:  9c 10d 2c 8s 9h. I'm outta there.

Except for that crippling play on hand 24 I felt I did ok and if I had folded to the all-in I'd still have had enough chips to make it back into the game with a bit of luck before the blinds got too much higher.

Tour $2 + .20 71 End 41st 22 hands Sat to MSOP #3

Payout 1-12 Entry. 13th - $5, 14th - $3, 15th - $2

This one had a frustrating ending for me. I'd been playing well and on hand 18 was able to add to my chip stack w/trip 6's. Hand 22 looked like a chance to build up some more chips.

Hand 22. I'm CO w/pocket K's (Kc Ks). MP1 open raises 2 1/2 BB (280), MP2 folds, HJ goes all-in w/1525 chips and I figure I need to call w/my pocket K's. If he has pocket A's so be it. I call, SB & BB fold, MP1 calls. MP1one shows Ad Qh, HJ shows pocket 9's (9d 9c). Flop 7c 10c 4d. So far so good. Turn Ac. Rats, but I do have a flush draw for the River. River 4h. Boooo. Over & out!!

I feel I played that hand the best I could and in the long run the cards just didn't fall my way. MP1 has been very lucky for a number of hands now, sucking out all too often, but that I don't have any control over.

To add salt to my wounds, on the very next hand, that MP1 player had pocket K's (Kc Ks). Did he miss with his K's???? Of course not!! The board showed 3h 7c 10h Kd 4s  vs Qs 10s he was up against.

Tour 40 $4 + 40 End 36 4 hands Sat to MSOP #4

Payout 1-9 Entry, 10 - $11.50

Not well played by me. I pushed too hard w/less than a quality hand. I was correct the other player didn't have a flush but they had an Ace with a better kicker than mine.

Hand 3. I'm BB w/Ad 4d. Seven players at table. Action folds to the HJ who open raises 2 BB (80), action folds to me and I call. Flop As 2s 7s. I pair my Ace but there is a possible flush out there. I bet 100 into the 180 pot and the HJ raises to 200. I call. Turn 5h. I have a gutshot straight draw. I check HJ bets 200 into the 580 pot. I call. This would have been a good time fold and get away my hand that is pretty iffy and most likely beat at some level. River 8c. I still only have a pair of A's. I decide to take a last stab and bet 480 into the 980 pot. HJ calls and shows Ah 10d.

Hand 4. I'm SB w/10s Jh and 560 chips left. I've decided I'm going all-in and hope for the best. UTG+1 open raises 2 BB (80), CO raises to 190, CO & BTN fold, I go all-in, BB folds, UTG+1 & HJ call. Flop 7d 3s 2c. UTG+1 bets 1235 to put HJ all-in and HJ folds. UTG+1 shows pocket 8's (8s 8c), I have two good overcards. Turn 4s. River 9s. I'm dead and outta there.

TOUR 99 $1.+ .10 End 97 1 hand Step 0 (Super Turbo)

Payout 1-30 Step 1 ticket. Blinds 3 min  chips 300.

I tried this just for the heck of it to see what I could do. On the 1st hand I had Ah 8s in CO position and the action folded to me. I open raised 3 BB (90) and and the BTN raised me all-in, I debated a bit and decided to call expecting to see really superior cards. BTN showed Ac 9d. Not what I expected but still better than me! The board played out: 4s 2d Kc 6s 4d and I was done!

2 HU $2 + .15 End 2nd 47 hands

Poorly played at the end by me, otherwise not too bad of a session. I should have won this one.

Hand 43. I'm SB w/Js 2c, 2030 chips. I open raise 2 BB (80) and BB re-raises me to 120, I call. Flop 3h Jd 6c. I pair my J's. BB bets 40 into the 240 pot and I raise to 140. BB re-raises to 240 and due to his past play of overplaying weak cards and/or nothing I decide to take him all-in and re-raise 700, He calls w/his last 590 chips. Unfortunately this time he has better cards than I do, Qd Jc. Turn Kc. River 5d. I"m down to 1100 chips.

Hand 44. I compound my misery this hand. I'm BB w/pocket 8's (8h 8d). SB open raises 2 BB (100) and I raise to 250, SB calls. Flop 7s Qd Js. Two overcards to my 8's. I bet 50 into the 500 pot, SB raises me to 100 and I call. Turn 6s. Darn, now beside an overcard a possible flush is there. I check and SB bets 200 into the 700 pot and against my better judgement I call (don't worry it gets worse on the River). River 5s. Grrr even more likely SB has flush. I check and SB bets 200 into the 1100 pot and I decide I need to check them out (the've bluffed in the past) and call. SB shows Qs 3h. They had me beat from the flop!! I'm down to 350 chips.

Hand 45. I make a small comeback w/pocket Q's, going all-in and called by the BB who has pocket 9's. My Q's hold up and I"m up to 700 chips.

Hand 47. I'm SB w/9c 5d and 625 chips. I limp in w/50 and BB raises me to 100, I call. Flop 9s 6d 8s. I have top pair and a gutshot straight draw. BB checks and I go all-in w/my last 550 chips, BB calls and shows 7c 10c. I'm in big trouble, they floped a straight!! Turn 8c. River 3c. I'm done!!

Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory!!! :-/

2 HU $2 + .15 End 1st 3 hands

Well this one went much faster than I expected and on hand 3 I thought I had a good chance of losing.

Hand 1. I'm BB w/pocket J's (Jc Jd). SB limps in w/20 and I raise to 40. Flop 6s 5d 9s. Looks ok to my J's. I bet 1/2 the pot (40) and SB calls. Turn 8s. Hmmm, possible flush and gutshot straight. I bet 1/2 the pot again (80) and SB calls. River 2d. Doesn't look like any harm there. I bet 170 into the 320 pot and SB calls. Uh oh, do they have that flush? SB shows Ac 2s. I win.

Hand 2. I'm SB w/Qc 2c. I open raise 2 BB (40) and BB calls. Flop 10s Js 3h. BB checks and I do the same. Turn 4c. BB bets 20 into the 80 pot and since I have nothing and no real hopes for much, I fold.

Hand 3. I'm BB w/5s 4c. SB limps in w/20 and I call. Flop 3s 4d 10d. I pair my 4 and at 1st think I have an open ended straight draw when I bet 1/2 the pot (20) and then catch that I don't! SB calls. Turn 4s. The board pairs and I hit trip 4's. I really didn't think about the board pairing and what that might mean to me in terms of the other players hand. What I did see though, was 2 spades and 2 diamonds. I wanted the River to be a club or a heart. I bet 40 into the 80 pot and the SB raises me to 200. Drat, what might they have? I did not think about a FH option. I called thinking they may be more on a flush draw. River Ks. One of the suits I did not want to see. I decided to stick w/my trip 4's and bet 200 into the 480 pot and the SB goes all in w/their last 970 in chips. Phooey. If I call and lose, I'll be hurting chip wise. I do call and SB shows Ad 8h and I win. Session over. I guess they were representing they hit the flush and were hoping I'd fold; I can't believe they felt their Ace high would win.

Rush 9 player .05/.10 313 Hands down $10 Blinds ate $5.15 Rake $1.30

Will write up later. Did not do well overall.
------------------------------------------------------
I'll just write briefly here. I got off to a poor start by betting too many hands and eventually I was down around $4-$5. I started w/$10 and had the following amounts: 50 hands - $8.09, 100 hands - $5.70, 150 hands - $6.94, 200 hands - $6.39, 250 hands - $3.55, and lastly 373 hands $0.00.

What I'm most unhappy about is I had decided that I wanted to play 50-100 hands and make $5; conversely I did not want to lose more than $5, and once I was down to $5 I was to stop. I didn't. There is not a lot of point in setting limits if I'm not going to keep them!

18 SNG Step 1 Ticket End 18 5 hands. Step 1 (Turbo)

Payout: 1-4 Step 2 ticket, 5-10 Step 1 ticket.

Well as you can see I didn't last at all in this one. I had a wealth of nice cards early on, and wasn't quite sure how to play them the best way.

Hand 1. I'm BB w/Ad Kc. Action folds to HJ who open raises 3 BB (90), CO calls, BTN & SB fold, I just call. Flop 7d 8h Qh. Misses me. I bet 135 into the 285 pot, HJ calls & CO folds. Turn As. Hits my Ace. I bet 255 into the 555 pot and HJ folds. This one worked out ok for me.

Hand 2. I'm SB w/Ac Kd. AK two hands in a row!!  HJ limps in w/30, CO raises to 60, BTN folds, I raise to 120, BB folds, HJ & CO call. Flop 9h Js Qd. I miss the flop again but do have a gutshot straight draw. I bet 165 into the 390 pot, HJ folds & CO calls. Turn 7s. No improvement for me. I decide to just check this time and CO bets the pot of 720. I debate going for the gutshot straight draw or maybe an Ace or K, but decide CO may have something that will beat me and I fold.

Hand 3. I'm the BTN w/pocket J's (Jc Js). 3rd decent hand in a row!!! Action folds to MP2 who limps in w/30, CO calls, I raise to 105, SB & BB folds, MP2 & CO call. Flop 5h 6h 4c. Don't like seeing a possible straight draw. MP2 checks, CO bets 120 into the 360 pot and I raise to 330. MP2 folds and CO re-raises all-in w/their last 1260 chips. Darn. They could already have the straight. Anyway I opt to call and the CO shows As 7d, having an open ended straight draw. Turn Ac. They hit their Ace and I badly need a J. River 3s. Double kill when they hit their straight. I'm down to 60 chips.

Hand 5 I go all-in w/Qh 10d. EP2 open raises 120 and had no callers beside me, they have pocket J's (Jh Js). Could thier pocket J's be treated as badly as mine in hand 3? The board plays out: 3h As Kc 8c 6d. I hit nothing and I'm outta here.

36 SNG $0.75 + .15 ST6 End 4th 84 hands Sat to $200 Double Deuce

I did better this time and made it to the final table of six where we start again w/1500 chips. I did not do as well this round. Last hand I decided to take pocket 7's all-in pre-flop and was called by an Ac 10c, two over cards. They paired their Ace on the flop and that was all they needed.

In the 1st round of six tables, players seem to like to see flops so most of the time there were 3 or 4 players in pre-flop. I decided I would join that pattern as long as I could get in cheap and in general I did well with it, being able to gain chips when I hit. With 3 minute blinds you can't sit back and wait for the best cards. In another session I may try betting up the limpers and see what happens.

36 SNG $0.75 + .15 ST6 End 7th 59 hands Sat to $200 Double Deuce

Payout: 1st Entry, 2nd $3.25, 3rd $1.75. Blinds 3 min.

Poorly played on my part. I was too passive overall. I had my ups & downs but overall I was mostly on the down side. I'll only post the last hand.

Hand 59, HU, I'm BB w/Kd Jh and 800 chips left after post BB of 500. SB limps and I raise all-in. SB calls showing Jc 9c. I have the over card. The board played out: 6h 3h 8d 9h 9s. I'm outta there.

I seem to have trouble playing 6 player tables. Since this has such a cheap buy-in it's not a bad place for me to practice and I wouldn't mind winning entry to the $200 K Double Deuce.

2 HU $2 + .15 End 1st 10 Hands

This was a nice HU The player I was playing wasn't aggressive so I was able to build a small lead by hand 10 -- 1680 to 1320 and hit a straight, that nicely wasn't obvious & he hit a 2nd pair on the River so he bet me all-in and that was it!

Hand 10. I'm SB w/Qh Jh. I open raise 2 BB (40) and BB calls. Flop 10c Ah 9d. I have an open ended straight draw. BB bets the pot (80) and I call. Turn  3s. No hit. BB checks and I do too. I didn't have to waste any chips to get to look at the River!! River Kh. I hit the straight & I don't see anything on the board that could beat me!! BB bets 240 and I raise to 530. BB goes all-in w/last 960 chips and I call. BB shows Ks 10d, two pair. I win, session over!!

I tend to hate that kind of River as I've been on the other side of it all too often. I hit something that makes a big improvement to my hand and I feel I've a good chance of winning, only to find out, in the end, that my opponent also hit on the River with something that beats me!!

Tour $1.25 + .15 30 End 1-5 83 hands Satellite to MSOP #1

Payout was 1-6 Entry, 7 - $4.50. The regular entry fee for MSOP #1 is $5 + .50 which is easily within my bankroll, but it's nice to get it for less. :-)

I was a late register but not too far behind and was able to be in the running much of the time or near it.

Hand 43. I'm the BTN w/As Kh and 2249 chips. Seven players at the table. Blinds 100/200. Action folds to the CO who open raises 3 BB (600), I call & SB & BB fold. Flop 2c Qs 10c. No immediate help to me, but I do have a gutshot straight draw. CO bets 800 into the 1500 pot and I decide to raise him to 1600 and maybe get him off the hand. Hmm, looking at the numbers, that makes the pot total 3900 and it will only cost him 800 to call me, giving him pots of 4.9 to 1.Of course I couldn't bet much more as I only had 49 chips left. :-) CO calls. River Js. Ah, that's more like it. I hit the gutshot!!! :-) CO bets 200 and I call putting in my last 49 chips. CO shows Kc Qd. They have a gutshot straight draw. River Qc, giving the CO trip Q's, but my straight carries the day. I now have 4798 chips.

Hand 54. I'm the SB and once more have AK but this time suited, As Ks. Blinds are 120/140 and I have 4943 chips. Five players at the table. CO opens with a limp of 240, the BTN folds, I call and the BB checks. Flop 7s 3c 8s. I have a nut flush draw. I bet 240 into the 845 pot and the CO raises me to 1200. Shoot. What to do? He might have hit a set or two pair both of which I can beat if I hit my nut flush. Pot odds were 2.4 to one, but I don't recall I thought about that at that time. With 9 outs I have 35% change of hitting my card on the Turn or River. Anyway I decide to call. Turn 5d. Missed. Still nothing has changed to stop my nut flush from winning if I can hit it. I only have a 20% chance on the River. I check and the CO bets 960 into the 3245 pot. I still have pot odds of 4.4 to 1, and though I won't appreciate my dip in stack size if I lose I'd be in excellent shape with a win. I call. River 7c. Phooey. No only did I miss my flush, I don't even have a pair. The board has paired. That means if the CO has hit a FH, even if I'd hit my nut flush I'd have been beat. I check and the CO bets a lowly 240 into the 5165 pot. At that price it's worth it to me to see what he has and I call. CO shows Ad 8h. Not much really, but better than what I have. I'm down to 2523 chips.

Next hand, 55, I let some more chips get away. I have 7s 8h and after the flop & turn I had a chance for a gutshot straight and since the betting wasn't large I went for it. In the end I didn't hit and am now down to 1678 chips w/blinds of 150/300.

Hand 59 I have pocket A's (As Ad) when the UTG goes all-in w/950 chips. I call and they show Ac Qh. It's looking pretty good for me. The board played out: 7h 7c 3s 4d 8c. My Ace's hold!! I have 2828 chips.

Hand 61 I decide I should give some of them back to the other players. I have pocket 7's in the CO position. Nine players at the final table, blinds 150/300. Action folds to the HJ who open raises 2 BB (600), I call, BTN folds, SB & BB call. Flop 6s 3c Kd. SB & BB check, HJ bets 300, I, SB, & BB call. Turn 8h. We all check this time. River 9h. SB bets 1200 into the 3825 pot, BB folds, HJ calls and I fold. SB shows pocket 7's ... the SAME AS ME....and the HJ shows pocket 10's. I'm down to 1903 chips.

Hand 66. I'm UTG w/As 10d and 1703 chips. Blinds are 200/400 w/50 ante. I open raise all-in. MP1 raises all-in w/2705 chips, everyone else folds. MP1 shows Kd Qd. I have one overcard. Flop 4h 5h 9h. Turn 4c. River 2c. My Ace high holds. I have 4456 chips.

Hand 74. I'm UTG w/Ad 4d. Blinds are 250/500 w/50 ante. I limp in to see if a nut flush may be possible, CO & SB call, BB checks. Flop Ks 3d 7d. I'm 4/5th's there! SB checks, BB bets 500 into the 2350 pot, I call, CO & SB fold. Turn 8s. Missed my flush. BB bets 500 into the 3350 pot and I call again. River 9d. BINGO, I hit my nut flush. Now, how many chips can I get from the BB? BB checks and I bet 2500 into the 4350 and BB folds. If I'd bet smaller maybe he's have called, but he could see, as well as I, a possible flush out there. I have 7256 chips, 4th highest.

Hand 78. Poker can be cruel. I'm CO with pocket 9's (9h 9d) and 8706 chips. Blinds are 300/600 w/75 ante. Action folds to me and I open raise 2 BB (1200), BTN folds, SB goes all-in w/3895 chips, BB folds, and I call. Not sure why, as 9's are not that strong and for the SB to go all in, very likely they have something that will beat them. Pot odds were 2.3 to 1, but even so, I'm in a pretty good spot to win the entry and just passing doesn't hurt my chip count all that much. SB shows pocket K's (Ks Kd). Flop 5c 8c 5s. Neither helps nor hurts me. Turn Kc. Now THAT hurts me as it gives the SB a FH, K's full of 5's. Next is where poker can be cruel, it would only have been crueler if the turn & River had been reversed. River 9s. Now I have a FH as well, 9's full of 5's. I'm back to 4811 chips & 5th in line of the seven players left.

By hand 86 I'd won a couple more pots but two other players finished this session out. Kh 3d vs 8c 9c. The clubs hit a flush and that was it.

Tour 157 $0.25 + .05 End 121 10 hands $1 Main Event Satellite

Payout: 1-35 Entry; 36  $0.75.

Not played well by me, nor did decent cards go my way.

Hand 1. I have Ac 8c UTG+1, UTG limps in, I limp in, MP1 limps, rest fold to the SB who limps in and the BB checks. Flop 7h 9s Js. Misses my flush possibility. SB, BB, & UTG check, I bet 90 into the 150 pot and MP1 raises me to 180. I fold.

Hand 2. I'm BB w/Ah Jh. UTG limps w/30, UTG+1 raises to 90, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, as does HJ & CO, SB folds and I call. Flop 7c 10s 2d. Misses me. I check, as does UTG & UTG+1, HJ bets 300 and we all fold to the UTG+1 who calls. Turn Ad. UTG+1 min bets 60 & HJ calls. River Qc. UTG+1 bets 1050 into the pot of 1275 and HJ folds.

Hand 4. I'm CO w/Ac Ks. UTG & UTG+1 limp in w/30, HJ calls, I raise 180 (3 BB + 3 limps), SB & BB fold, UTG calls, rest fold. Flop 10d 7c 5h. Misses me just like it did in hand 2. UTG+1 checks and I bet 210 into the 465 pot, UTG+1 calls. Turn 4d, we both check. River 10h. UTG+1 goes all-in w/last 870 of their chips and I fold.

Hand 10. I'm the SB w/Qc Jh. UTG, UTG+1, and HJ limp in w/40, CO & BTN fold, I & BB calls. Flop 7h 9s Jc. I have top pair. I & BB check, UTG bets 120, UTG+1 & HJ call, I go all-in w/my last 790 chips. BB folds, UTG goes all-in w/1920 chips, UTG+1 and HJ fold. UTG+1 shows Ks Js. We both paired J's but he has the better kicker! Turn 10d. River 10s. Neither help me, UTG+1 wins and I'm outta there.

Tourney $70 + $5 Ticket 14,396 End 5,631 175 hands MiniFTOPS ME

This is a tough group. They added a lot more pro’s to the session and I managed to last longer than 30 of them, including David Benyamine, Roy Winston, Michael Craig, Steve Zolotow, Erick Lindgren, David Pham, Carlos Mortensen, and Annette_15, to name a few. None showed up at the tables I was at. If you knock one of the pro’s out you get a $70 bounty!! Nice. So I imagine that puts them in situations where players want to get them all-in more than would happen in regular, non-bounty, play.

We started with 7500 chips and blinds were 12 minutes which is twice as long as most SNG’s or Tournaments I play. I played very, very tight early on. At the start of blind level 6 (40/80) my VP was 5, PFR 5, and Afq 67. I played two hands, other than BB’s if they were limped to me. My chip stack was slightly below the 7500 starting (7163). At the start of blind level 10 (11/200) I was up to 10,013 chips and near the chip average. My high point was the start of level 12 (140/280 + 24 ante) with 15,088 chips. I’d loosened up a little by then. Of the 175 hands I had only a very few were really good ones; pocket K’s I had once is the best I had. I had AK three times, 1st time no callers, 2nd time after a fop of Jd 10c 7c I folded to a large bet. The 3rd time was my last hand that is pictured below where I’m taken out by pocket 8’s. It took 3 hours and 25minutes of my time. I don’t think I need to write much more about my play

Players did not drop out quickly. After late registration we had 14,396 players. At break one (approx 55 min after start of play) we were only down to 13,045. Not at all like those inexpensive tourneys I get into that start big and are halved in a matter of minutes. Break 2 we were down to 10,361 and break 3 we were down to 6,917. Still a good way from the 1890 where the 1st payout of a little over $100 takes place.

It was fun and an interesting experience and if I can find a cheap way to get into it again I shall!!

My last hand:

Rush 9 player .05/.10 120 Hands Up $5.16 Blinds ate $1.70 Rake $1.80

Just a quick note. Did ok overall and didn't give away the farm.

Rush Tour $2.25 + .25 87 End 9th 177 hands Sat MiniFTOPS ME

Pay out: 1-3 Entry, 4th $22.88, 5th - $14.17, 6th - $9.45
Mixed play on my part with various ups & downs. It's late tonight and I have that big tourney a little over 8 hours so best I work my way to bed. May write more tomorrow about this session..

Hand 177. I'm SB w/4c 5c, 4395 chips. Blinds are 800/1600 w/200 ante. Action folds to MP2 who limps in w/1600, CO calls, BTN folds, I call and BB checks. If I can win it will help a lot. Flop 6h 10c Jc. I have a flush draw. I bet all-in w/my last 3595 chips, BB & MP2 call. Pot is now 18,985! Turn 3h. I now add open ended straight draw. BB checks & MP2 bets 3200 & BB calls. River Jd. None of my outs make it. :-( BB checks and MP2 bets 3200,  BB folds. MP2 shows Js Qd hitting trip J's on the River.

Rush Tour $2.25 + .25 87 End 48 31 hands Sat MiniFTOPS ME

Payout is: 1-2 Entry, 3rd - $22.88, 4th - $13.72, 5th - $9.15

I got off to a decent start then on Hand 23 I gave 1/2 my chips away.

Hand 23 I'm SB w/pocket 4's and 2020 chips. Seven players at the table. UTG+1 open raises 2 BB (100), action folds to the BTN who calls as do I and the BB.  Flop Qs 10s 7s. I miss my set but do have a flush darw for my lowly 4s. I bet 200 into the 400 pot, BB & UTG+1 fold,  BTN calls. Do they have a flush? A better flush draw than mine? Turn  8c. I check and BTN goes all-in w/last 745 chips. Darn. At this point I should just give up on this hand, but instead I call. BTN shows Kh 8h. Hmm, I still have a possible winning flush draw, BTN has paired their 8. River 2h. I'm down to 1000 chips.

Hand 33. I'm BTN w/Kc 2h, 925 chips, blinds 30/60. .Action folds to me and I decide to try and steal the blinds and open raise all-in. SB folds & BB calls.  I hit a brick wall when they show Kd Ks. Bad timing for that play on my part!! The board plays out:  4h 4s 10s 8h 9s. I'm outta there.

9 SNG $5 + .50 End 8th 20 hands

I had been playing well, then made one big mistake followed by a suckout where I'd have gotten enough chips to be well back in the session.

Hand 19. Eight players left. I have pocket 10's (10c 10d) in UTG+1. UTG limps in w/60, I raise 3 1/2 BB to 210, rest fold to the BB who goes all-in w/1210 chips. If I call I'll have 600 some chips left. Now, inspite of having marked him a "red" some time ago, I decide to call him hoping he only has overcards to my 10's. Alas he has pocket K's. Flop 6c 9d 7c. I have a flush runner, runner draw and a gutshot straight draw. Some hope for me here. Turn 5d. River 2c. I'm left w/665 chips.

Hand 20. I wake up to pocket J's (Jc Js) and some hope I may be able to double up. I'm UTG and open raise all-in, UTG+1 folds and MP goes all-in w/1130 chips, rest fold. MP shows Ad Kc, two overcards to my J's. Flop 7d 4h 2d. So far so good. Turn 8d. Hmmm, MP now has a nut flush draw. River 3d. They hit their flush. I'm gone.

Did I really need to worry about an Ace or a K falling? No, of course not. I needed to worry about FOUR diamonds falling!!! Grrrr. Such is poker & of course, my poor play in hand 20.
