This session was going very well for me until the last two hands.
Hand 38. I'm SB w/Jc 9d, 1805 in chips, blinds 20/40. I open raise 2 BB and BB calls. Flop 10c 8s Qs. I flop a Q high straight!!! Nice!! BB checks and I make a min bet of 40 into the 160 pot (what I have often done in this match); BB raises me to 280 and I call. Turn Qc. Hmmm, that might help me, if he has a Q he'll have trip Q's. I feel it's unlikely he has pocket Q's. BB bets 200 into the 720 pot and I raise him to 580 and he re-raises me all-in w/his last 615 and I call. BB shows Qh 2c. What I expected, he has trip Q's. One card to go. River 8c. NOOOOOOOO. He hits a FH and I'm down to 650 chips. :-/ Bummer. But I do have enough chips left to make some kind of fight out of it.
Hand 39. I'm BB w/9c 3d. SB open raises 2 BB (80), which he also often does and I call. Flop 8s 9h 7s. I hit top pair. I decide to check and SB bets the pot of 160 I decide to raise them all-in w/my last 570 in chips and they call showing pocket J's (Jh Js). I'm in big trouble. Can I suck out like they did on the previous hand? Turn 4s. River 8d. Nope. Close but no cigar and I'm out of there.
Not the way I like to start my night of play, but that's the way the cards fell, rather than my poor play and that is some consolation.
