Short. I had QJo two hands in a row and decided to give them a try. On hand 6 I limped in w/40 and 3 other players called. We all checked each round. Board played out: Kh 10c 7c Kc 4s. Ace high won. I had flush and straight draws, none hit.
Hand 7. I'm UTG+1 and limp in w/40, CO raises all-in w/250. Rest fold, I call. CO has Ac 2h. I have two good cards. Flop 4c 8s 5c. Turn Qd. I pair my Q and am hopeful. River Ad. I'm done.

Fair and tight play most of the time. Not able to do much chip building early on. Maybe I'm playing too tight.
Hand 30. This is questionable if I was giving up too many chips for a straight draw that this early in the tournament. I'm SB w/5h 6d. Four players limp in w/60 and I call. Flop 7s Ah 4h. I have an open ended straight draw. I & BB check, UTG+1 bets 150 into the 300 pot, HJ calls, BTN folds, I call & BB folds. Turn 2c. Missed my straight. I check, UTG+1 bets 210 into the 750 pot, HJ calls & I call. River Jc. I miss my straight. We all check. UTG+1 shows Ac 8c & HJ shows Qh Jh. UTG+1 wins having paired his Ace. I'm down to 2505 chips. Was it worth it to give up that many chips (360) this early in the session? Pot odds were good and it certainly didn't cripple me, so I don't feel too badly about that hand play.
After hand 43 we hand the 1st break. I had 2945 chips and my PT was VP 12, PR 5, AFq 50.
Not a lot happened after that. One LAG player was betting roughly 3 1/2 most hands pre-flop before me, so I tended to fold a good number of hands I'd have liked to limp in with and see what might happen.
Sometimes I seem to learn my lesson and then just as quickly I seem to forget it. The next two hands show this.
Hand 100. I have Ad Kh in HJ position w/2563 chips. Action folds to me and I bet 3 BB (300), CO folds, BTN calls, SB & BB fold. Flop 10s 4d 6h. Misses my AK. I decide to just check and the BTN bets 400 into the 750 pot. Since I didn't hit anything I fold. Maybe I should have made a bet 1st, but he did call my 3 BB pre-flop open raise suggesting he had something, thus I decided to take the safe out rather than just hoping I have the best hand or can draw to it.
Hand 101. This one I let myself fall into my old trap. I'm MP2 w/As Jc. MP1 limps in w/100, I call, HJ, CO, & BTN fold, SB calls, and BB who is sitting out checks. Flop 8d 4h 7d. Like in the previous hand w/my AK I hit nothing. SB, BB, & MP1 check to me, so I decide to take a stab at it and maybe everyone will fold. I bet 200 into the 400 pot. SB & BB fold, MP1 calls. Turn 4d. Board has paired 4's and possible flush draw showing. MP1 & I check. River Jh. I pair my J and have an Ace kicker. After merely calling me on the flop and checking on the Turn, MP1 bets all-in w/1095 chips. That is really my clue that unless my hand looks super good it's best I fold. I hadn't really noticed the flush possible at that time but I was concerned about maybe trip 4's, I also didn't think about the FH possibility. In any event, I did surmise that I likley will be beat if I make this call, and I make it anyway! :-/ MP1 shows pocket 8's (8c 8s) having hit a set on the flop. I was not expecting to get beat that way. It doesn't matter. MP1 made a bet that told me I'd better get out of there and I was unable to hear that. I'm down to 870 chips.
Hand 107. Blinds were 60/120 and had just passed me by, leaving me w/690 chips. I'm on the BTN w/pocket 2's (2s 2h). Action folds to the LAG player (MP2) who open raises 3 BB (360), HJ & CO fold. I think about it a bit and knowing that the LAG will open with most anything I decide to take my chances with my paired 2's and re-raise all-in w/my last 690 chips. SB & BB fold, MP2 calls and this time has GREAT CARDS .... pocket K's (Ks Kd). Bad timing on my part!! The board plays out: Qd Kh 6h 10s 5d. and I'm done.
One more tournament tomorrow!!

This was a tough session as players didn't drop very quickly after we lost the 1st two. I worked hard at being patience and it seems to have paid off in the end. It felt iffy for quite awhile whether I was going to make the top 5 or not as the other players were not playing poorly.
Hand 7: My 1st nice hand. I'm BB w/pocket Q's (Qd Qh). Seven players. Action folds to the CO who open raises 3 BB (90) , BTN folds and I re-raise to 180. CO calls. Flop Jc As Kc. Ugh. Not the kind of flop I want to see w/pocket Q's. I could have bet into it but the CO had opened w/a 3 BB raise so I felt it was likely he had an Ace or K or maybe even AK and betting into it hoping he didn't would be a waste of my chips, so I just check. CO checks as well. Turn 5d. I still see no point in putting more chips into the pot so I check again and this time the CO bets 210 into the 360 pot. A modest bet that maybe he feels will induce me to give up a few of my chips. I fold. It was not what I felt like doing; I'd have loved to run with those Q's, but it did not look like the Q's day.
Hand 52 still seven players left I was CO w/Ah Qh. UTG open raised w/a 3 BB (240) raise and I decided to fold. It would have been nice to see a flop but if I didn't hit my AQs likely wasn't much good.
Hand 53 I have Ad Qh in HJ position. UTG+1 limps in w/80, I raise to 240, rest fold and UTG+1 calls. Flop 7s 2h 10c. No help to my AQ. UTG+1 & I check. Turn 3d. We both check again. River 9d. check, check. UTG+1 shows Kc 9s, pairing his 9 on the River. If I had bet earlier it's possible he would have folded and I'd have won the pot.
Hand 77. I'm BB w/Kd 4c. Seven players still left, blinds 80/160 and I have 1040 chips. UTG limps in, SB calls, and I check. Flop 4s Ks 3s. I have top 2 pair but board shows a possible flush and spade flush draw. SB checks and I decide to go all-in w/my last 1040 chips hoping no-one has a flush yet. Yes, this was a bit rash on my part, but blinds are going to be killing me soon. UTG raises me all-in w/1495 chips and the SB folds. Darn, it looks like he does have the spade flush. UTG shows 3h 3d having hit their set on the flop. I need some help here! Turn 2d. One last chance. River Kc. Phew. Instead of being outta here, I have a FH (K's full of 4's vs UTG's FH of 3's full of K's). I now have 2550 chips and some breathing room. I was very lucky this hand.
Hand 79. This one I didn't expect to win but called to see what the other player had. I'm on the BTN w/pocket 6's (6s 6h) and 2480 chips. Action folds to me and I limp in w/160. SB folds and BB checks. Flop 4d 3c 3d. The board is paired but my 6's are still top pair. BB checks and I bet 160 into the 400 pot and BB raises me to 480. I decide to call, hoping he doesn't have a 3. Turn 3h. Now that's an interesting kettle of fish!! I have a FH, 3's full of 6's. Does the BB have quad 3's??? BB only checks and I do the same. River Qd. That does set up a possible flush as well, but I don't think I really noticed that at the time. Trip 3's more had my interest. BB bets 480 into the 1360 pot and I debate, does he have it or not? I decide to bite the bullet and call to see what he has. BB shows 6d 2s. NOTHING. WOW. Not at all what I expected. I now have 3680 chips and have become chip leader.
Hand 93. We are now down to six and have been on the 5 winners bubble since hand 82. Blinds 100/200, I have 3380 chips and 2nd high stack. I'm CO w/Kc Qh. HJ limps in w/200, I call, BTN folds, SB calls & BB checks. Flop Jd 10h Ad. Perfect!! I have a nut high straight!! SB bets all-in w/last 635 chips, BB & HJ fold, I call. SB shows Ah 6c. Looking good. Turn 3h. River 7c. I have 4615 chips. We are down to the final five.
Hand 100. Four players left, blinds 120/240. I'm BB w/pocket K's (Kh Kc) and 4575 in chips. UTG limps in w/240, BTN folds, SB calls and I raise to 720. UTG calls and SB folds. Flop Qs 7d 8s. Looks ok for my K's. I decide to check & UTG does too. Turn Jd. I bet 960 into the 1680 pot and UTG calls. Hmm, what do they have? Might they have 9-10 for a straight? Are they on a flush draw? River 7c. The board is paired. I decide to just check and UTG bets all-in w/1595 chips. What might he have? If I call & lose I'll lose about 1/2 my chips, hurt but still playable, plus the worse off I'll be is with a Step 1 ticket, so I call. UTG shows 5c 4s. NOTHING!! That was a surprise too. I thought I might still win but I did expect them to have something! I now have 8330 chips and we are down to the last 3 bubble for Step 2 tickets. Middle stack has 3580 chips and short stack has 1590 chips.
At this point I'm mainly sitting back and letting the other two fight it out unless I have some really great hands. That doesn't happen by hand 107 when short stack w/pocket 7's (7h 7s) went all-in to middle stacks Ah Kh. The board showed: 4c Ac Kd 2d 2c and it was over.

SB calls and shows 9c 8c, two over cards. Flop Qh 7s 5s. So far so good. Turn 6h. SB hits a straight. I'm dead. River 4d. I was being a bit impatient there but thought it was worth a try being the short stack.

Overall my play was ok this session. I overplayed my pocket A's last hand and gambled that the very loose player didn't have the winning cards when they went all-in and they did. :-/ One of these day's I'll learn. It might have helped if I was more aggressive on the flop and I might have got him away from his pair that turned into trips on the Turn. He had been playing aggressive and very loose and been lucky quite a few times.
Hand 34. Five players, blinds 40/80. I have 1270 chips, in CO w/pocket A's (As Ac)., UTG/HJ limps in w/80 and I raise to 160 hoping to get a little action. Rest fold and UTG (LAG) calls. Flop 9s 7h Ks. UTG checks and I bet 200 into the 440 flop, UTG calls. Turn 9h. We both check. At this point he actually has trip 9's but does nothing to indicate that. River 5c. UTG now goes all-in w/5150 chips. I groan and call and UTG shows me the bad news Qh 9c. I'm done.
Part of my problem here is I've seen him play bad cards and suck out. I tend to forget that when it's at the River and he is betting big that indeed he probably did hit and no matter how much I like my pocket A's and hoped they get me some chips and into the money, they probably aren't good anymore. There's a difference between pre-flop and watching him suck out and when we are at the River cards unseen.

Payout: 1620 1st - $9,559.35 9th - $619.45 1351-1620 - $7.43 Blinds 12 min 3000 chips.
I let myself get off to a bad start the 1st few hands by not being able to get away from them.
Hand 1: I'm UTG+1 w/10c 10h. UTG folds and I open raise 4 BB (80), action folds to the CO who re-raises to 270, rest fold and I call. Flop Js 9s 5s. I check and CO bets 260 and I raise to 520 and they re-raise to 780. I fold. I've cost myself 790 chips.
Hand 5. I've got a few of my chips back, am the BTN w/As Qs. UTG+1 open raises 3 BB (60), action folds to me and I call, SB & BB fold. Flop Ad 6h 4h. I pair my Ace. UTG+1 bets 120 into the 270 pot, I call. Turn Js. UTG+1 bets 360 into the 390 pot and I call. River 9c. UTG+1 bets the pot of 1110 and I decide to call. He could have two pair by now or maybe AK, so with that large of a bet this early in the tournament it would have been best if I folded. UTG+1 shows Ah Kc, having an Ace with a better kicker. I'm down to 920 chips and we've just started!! :-/
Hand 14: I get a chance to double up. I'm CO w/pocket A's (Ac As) and 960 in chips. UTG+1 limps in w/30 as does the CO, I raise to 120 and all fold except the CO who calls. Flop 7c 2c 8c. Glad I have the Ac for a flush draw, but could CO already have the flush? CO checks and I bet 150 into the 315 pot and the CO raises me all-in w/6030 chips. With only 690 chips left, pocket A's and a nut high flush draw I call, figuring the best he has is a flush now. CO shows Kc 10d. I'm in good shape!! Turn 4d. River 6h. I'm up to 1995 chips.
Hand 53. I thought I did the right thing, but was sucked out on the River. I'm BB w/5h 9c and 2415 chips. Not the best of cards. UTG+1 limps in w/50 and I check. Flop 8c Jc 9d. I pair my 9. I bet the pot of 125, UTG+1 calls. Turn 9h. I now have trip 9's with a weak kicker if UTG+1 also has a 9. I bet the pot of 375 and UTG+1 calls. I didn't want to bet more in case it might scare them away and I hoped it was high enough they'd fold if they didn't have anything. River Ks. My trip 9's still look pretty good to me, so I decide to bet all-in w/my last 1915 chips. UTG+1 calls showing Qh 10c having hit a straight on the River. Ugh. I'm outta the tournament.
UPDATE on Hand 53. in an email reply from Jeri she noticed: "dear ted.....looks like he flopped a str8t. to my mind, he was goin nowhere. -jeri." I missed that altogether only seeing the improved straight on the River. :-/
I could have gone all-in on the Turn making it even more costly for him to go for the draw and maybe that would have stopped him. Of course, if I hadn't hurt my chips stack so badly in those early hands and I had been able to double up with the initial chips plus, I'd have been able to withstand the straight suck out, licking my wounds, and still be playing.
9 SNG $2 + .25 End 2nd 111 hands
Finally made the money in a SNG again!! Wasn't sure I was going to make it over the bubble or not, but did and then made it to HU with a small chip lead. Played ok until the last hand where I decided the other player didn't have as good of a hand as he did. He had played tight most of the session but had been loosing up, so I took him to have high cards and not hit the flop.
Hand 111. I'm BB w/6260 chips and 9h 6h; SB has 6880 chips; blinds are 120/240. SB open raises 2 1/2 BB (600) and I call. Flop 4d 4h 5s. I bet 240 into the 1200 pot and SB raises me to 600, I call. Turn 9d. I pair my 9. I check and SB bets 1200 (1/2 the pot) and I decide to raise them all-in w/5300 chips. Not wise really, but I was thinking he might just have single high cards. SB calls and shows 3s 4s, having hit trip 4's on the flop. :-/ I still have a shot on the River. River 10d. Alas I did not get a 9.
Outside of that hand I'm pleased with my play, though I was wondering for a long time if it was going to get me anywhere as I seemed to be just trading water for some time but eventually some decent cards I could play came my way. Hand 63 was a turning point.
Hand 63. Five players left, blinds 80/160. I'm the BTN w/Ad Kc and 855 chips. CO open raises 3 BB (480) and I re-raise all-in w/855 chips. SB & BB fold, CO calls showing Ac Qd. The board played out: 4s 4c 5s Kh 10s. I now have 1950 chips and am not the short stack anymore.
A few hands later we are down to the bubble and I'm the short stack again with approx 2300 chips between top and low stack. Hand 100 I break the bubble.
Hand 100. I'm SB w/As 9h and 2550 chips. Action folds to me and open raise 3 BB (720) and BB re-raises me all-in w/their last 1970 chips. I hold my breath and decide to call and have 460 chips left. BB shows Ac 6s. Phew! Now for the board to hold up!! The board: Ad 8c 5s 6d 7h. Double Phew. BB paired their 6 on the Turn and I sucked out with a straight on the River!!

Tour 7884 Freeroll End 1451 121 hands Round 1 Freeroll
Payout: 1-250 Entry
Bad decision on my last hand. I took the player to have different cards than he had and didn't believe his raising push's.
Hand 121: Eight players at table, blinds 60/120. Three are sitting out. I'm BB w/Kd Qc, 18,174 chips within the 250 at this point. UTG+1 limps in w/120 as does MP1, rest fold to me and I check. Flop 7d 5h Qh. I have top pair w/a K kicker. I bet the pot of 360, UTG+1 raises me to 1440, MP1 folds and I re-raise to 2520. UTG+1 has been doing a lot of raising me and most of the time I've been folding, never sure if he could beat me or not, so this time I challenge him. He calls. That leads me to believe I may still have the best hand. I was mainly worried about his having a Q with an Ace kicker. Turn 2s. This time I decide I'm going in big and bet the pot of 5400 and he raises me all-in w/18,814 chips. At this point, though I wouldn't want to, I should have folded. It's unlikely he'd push all-in if he didn't feel he could win. But I call and UTG+1 shows 5s 7s, having hit bottom two pair on the flop. I could still win with a Q or K on the River. River Jh. I'm outta there.
This was an odd session. I 1st built my chip stack due to very poor play on other players part. Then later on, for 69 hands our table had 6 of the 9 players sitting out. It took me awhile to realize this and for a fair amount of time I thought this one player after me was always raising me to give me a hard time, when I now believe he realized before I did that there was only three of us playing and if he could get me and the other player out he'd win the blinds. Once I realized it, I still all too often had terrible cards, that didn't seem worth the risk of the gamble.
Anyway I feel good that I got as far as I did and I hope that last hand was a learning lesson for me. I had built myself a decent stack and if I had handled it carefully I had a good chance to make the 250 which is what I need to do in the Tournaments I've won entry into over the next couple of days where I can win some real $$$ with good play.
The reason I entered this freeroll was for the practice of building a chip stack with a large number of players. In some ways my early chip winning was a bit too easy and I have to be careful not to assume it was due to my grand play. I still need to be quite careful what I play and to have patience to make it to the end.

Tour 53 $2 + .20 End 32nd 18 Hands Satellite to MSOP #3
I don't feel I played badly this last hand, though I'm not sure calling an all-in may have been my best move on that last hand, even though it shows I had the best cards at that point. Pre-flop we were about equal 31%, 34%, 35%. Post flop I had top pair and the %'s changed to 67.5%, 24%, 8.4%. After the Turn I was 81%, vs 4.75%, and 14.3%. Then the River came and the 4.75% player hit trip 8's and won.
Hand 18, I'm SB w/Kh 9h. HJ limps in w/60, CO folds, BTN & I call, BB checks. Flop 10h Ks 8c. I bet 120 into the 240 pot, BB folds, HJ & BTN call. Turn 2c. I bet 330 into the 600 pot, HJ calls, and BTN raises all-in w/their last 1140 chips. I wasn't expecting that. I only have 730 chips left. After thinking about it for a bit, I decide to call. I can't think what he might have beside a hitting a set w/pocket 2's? HJ calls as well. BTN shows Qs Jc. Hmm, he just has an open-ended straight draw. HJ is even more surprising as they show Ad 8s, having only bottom pair on the flop. Why are they even in here? One card to go and I'm still ahead. River 8d. Urgggggg, HJ sucked out and I'm gone.
I need a bit of a break after that. :-)
PS: There may be a bit of poetic justice to this poker after all. I saw the player who knocked me out was knocked out later on. I was scanning the hands forward to see if he got beat on a bad hand and came upon this one that he lost, though it didn't knock him out.
The player is the BB, blinds 60/120, and has 5280 chips. Eight players at the table w/SB sitting out. MP limps in w/120, HJ & CO fold, BTN raises to 600, SB folds, BB & MP call. Flop Js 10d 4d. BB & MP check, BTN bets all-in w/2885 chips, BB raises to 4800, MP folds. BTN shows pocket 8's (8c 8h). BB has Jc 10c, having hit top two pair on the flop! He's now an 89% to 11% favorite. Turn 7s. He loses a little and is not 86% to 14% favorite. River 8s. BTN hits a set. The 8's that took me out now drop him to 1915 chips. In poker when you go to showdown you just never know!!!
A few hands later he went out going all-in pre-flop with KQs.

Looking at tournaments I saw this freeroll was open so I jumped in, mainly for some practice at stack building. I wasn't doing very well at that. Last hand didn't go my way.

Played this for more 300 chip, 3 min blinds practice. 1st hand I was lucky w/pocket 3's (3d 3c). I was BB and all folded to the SB who went all-in and I called. SB showed Ac 6h. Two overcards. Flop 6c 4c 5h. SB pairs their 6, I have an open ended straight draw. Turn 6d. They now have trip 6's. River 3s. I hit my set as well as a FH. I have 600 chips.
Hand 7. Seven players. I'm CO w/Qh Jd, 545 chips. UTG limps in w/40, UTG+1 calls, HJ raises to 80, I call, BTN & SB fold, BB, UTG & UTG+1 call. Flop Jc 8d 6d. I have top pair showing. BB checks, UTG bets all-in w/190, UTG+1 folds, HJ raises all-in w/310 chips, I call & BB folds. I really didn't spend anytime thinking about what the HJ might have had though they had raised, if modestly, pre-flop. I mainly felt my J's were pretty good and I have a decent kicker. UTG shows Js 9h and HJ shows pocket Q's (Qd Qs). My J's are in trouble. Turn 2c. River 8h. I'm down to 155 chips.
Hand 9. I'm UTG w/Ah Kd and open raise all-in w/155 chips. HJ & CO call, BTN re-raises all-in w/510 chips, rest fold and CO calls. CO shows 7c 8c, BTN shows pocket J's (Jd Jh). I have overcards! Flop 8h Qd Js. That didn't help!! Turn Qh. That helped even less as the BTN now has a FH. River 9d. I'm done.
It's still tricky to know when it's best to go all in, though I probably would have been better off folding my QJ.

9 SNG $0.30 + .05 End 1-2 61 hands $1 Main Event Satillite
Payout: 1-2 - Entry, 3rd - $0.50. Blinds 3 min.
Ended up 1st in chip count. Played fairly well. One player who played very loose ended up 1-2 also, by sucking out a few times, so I had to be very careful playing him.
Hand 10. This shows you how this player seemed to often bet. Seven players left, blinds 30/60. I'm UTG+1 w/pocket A's (Ac Ah) and 1410 chips. UTG (loose player) limps in w/60, I raise to 240, rest fold and UTG calls. Flop 3h 3d 6d. Nice flop for me but I do worry a bit about trip 3's, maybe a set with the 6. UTG bets all-in w/1640 chips. I think a bit about what I said here about possible hands and decide to call, if he hit w/the 3's or 6 so be it. He shows pocket 2's (2c, 2h). Wow, not what I expected to see. Turn Jd. River Jh. I now have 2910 chips and can relax a bit.
Hand 20. This was a hand I wasn't expecting to play hard. Five players left, blinds 60/120. I'm the BTN w/Qd 7d and 3170 chips. Action folds to me and I make a 3 BB open raise (360) mainly to steal the blinds. SB calls & BB folds. Flop 4h Qc 4d. I pair my Q and don't really pay much attention to the board paring 4's. That's dangerous on my part. SB bets the pot (840) and I decide to raise them all in w/an 1860 raise. As I said I wasn't paying much attention to the two 4's, but I was concerned about his also having a Q with a better kicker, such as AQ, so I'm hoping he just folds here. Alas he does not and goes all-in. SB shows As Js. Not what I was expecting; he just has one overcard. Turn 7c. River Jh. My Q's hold and I now have 5015 chips for the chip lead as we hit the Bubble. Up for grabs two $1.10 entry's and 50 cents 3rd place.
Hand 36. Three players left, blinds 120/240. I'm BB w/Qh 3c. BTN folds, SB (same very loose player) limps in w/240 and I check. Flop 3h 5d Qs. For such poor starting cards the flop has hit me nicely with top and bottom pair. SB checks and I bet 240 into the 480 pot. SB raises me to 720. I don't feel he has a set, but feel he has at least a pair, and I doubt he can beat my two pair at this point, so I re-raise him to 1680 and the SB re-raises me all-in w/his last 3710 chips. I call. SB shows Qc 10c, having paired his Q which is what I thought he most likely had. Turn 2c. River 6d. I have 8710 chips, SB has 315. It looks like this session will quickly be over, but it went on for another 25 hands.
Hand 38. The super short stack with 315 chips is BB. I'm BTN w/Kh 5s. I & SB limp in w/240 and BB goes all in w/last 75 chips, we both call. Flop 7c 7d 9s. I & SB check. Turn 2c. I & SB check. River 2h. I & SB check. It's possible my K might make a difference, but the BB super short stack has an Ace and wins tripling up to 945 chips.
Hand 43. I help double up the short stack who now has 1545 chips. I'm SB w/Jc 4h. Blinds 150/300. BTN (short stack) limps in w/300, I call, & BB checks. Flop 3h 2d 8s. No help to me. We all check. Turn Jd. I pair my J and have top pair showing. I & BB check, BTN goes all-in w/1245 chips. Since I know he doesn't always bet with the best cards I decide to call. BTN shows 10s 9d. He has an open-ended straight draw, about a 17% chance of hitting on the River. River Qh. Alas he does and now has 3390 chips. I'm down to 6400.
No special hands after that. Last hand shows one more time how the loose player plays and sucks out on the river. Blinds 250/500. I have Js 3s as SB. BTN (loose player) open raises w/2 BB bet (1000), I fold and short stack BB re-raises all-in w/last 2160 chips. BTN calls. BTN shows 8d 9d. BB shows Kd 10c. Two overcards. Flop Jd 4c As. Turn 5h. River 8c, BTN hitting.

Played OK until last hand when I decided to go for a flush draw and failed.
Hand 35: I'm BTN w/Jc 5c and 1480 chips. Five players. Action folds to me and I open raise 3 BB (240) hoping to steal the blinds, SB w/5830 chips calls, BB folds. Flop Ad Kc 9c. SB checks and I bet 200 into the 500 pot, SB raises all-in. Hmm, best I fold but I don't want to and SB has shown making big bets w/o the best hand. I figure he has likely an A or K and maybe a flush draw as well. I call. SB shows Ah 8h. Turn 5d. I have a couple more outs. River 6s. I'm finished.
I let myself become too impatient on that hand and maybe a bit on tilt because I felt a bit angry that he raises me all-in!! Neither good places to be when playing a poker session as they leave me in poor decision making moods!!
Outside of that hand I played OK. I started late during Lvl 3 (25-50) but had been holding my own and building my chip stack.

Survived this one. Initially it wasn't too bad and I was able to win a small pot and sometimes steal the blinds, but when the blinds were getting up to 100/200 your stack looks a lot weaker. I was able to build up a few chips so I was in the middle of the 30 winners much of the time, but it felt tense. Anyway I made it. Not sure if it's as easy to make as our guru Mark seems to suggest, at least for me. :-)

Played this just to get an idea about playing 300 chips & 3 min blinds and how other players were playing, in anticipation of playing a $1 + .10 Step 0 99 tourney session to win a Step 1 ticket.
I played 3 sessions before starting to write them up. Because it appears FT is getting ready for a maintenanceshutdown I closed FT so don't have the handy Hand History to refer to. I could check back on PT for the session(s), but I'm not going to do that. FT hand history also didn't show one losing hand I wanted to look at. Don't know why.
What I learned from this session is that a lot of players will go all-in w/Ax.

Payout: 1-12 Entry. 13 - $4.
Mixed play but mostly decent. Went for a nice looking flush & straight draw that I didn't get, with a player who kept making large bets on the Turn & River, leaving me w/5 chips. Sadly I was too sucked in for what "could be" and couldn't resist the gamble to see it happen. Overall I was more patience this session.
Hand 24. I'm HJ w/Ah 4h and 1185 chips. MP limps in w/100, I call, SB calls, & BB checks. Flop 5s 7h 6s. I didn't do much toward a nut flush but do have an open ended straight draw. SB bets all-in w/1590 chips, BB & MP fold. I think about it a bit and wonder if they already have the straight and decide to call. SB shows Qd 8c and they have an open ended straight draw too that could beat my straight. Turn 8s. The 1st thing I think of is that they paired their 8 and now are ahead of me. River 10d. Nuts. I'm beat. WAIT, the chips are coming my way! WHY??? Oh, I hit my open-ended straight on the Turn!!! I didn't see that!!! Guess I've been losing too much lately!! Anyway I now have 2570 chips.
Hand 33. I give up some chips. I'm MP1/Kh Jc and 2090 chips. I limp in w/a 160 bet, the CO calls, SB folds, and BB checks. Flop 9s 3d Ad. BB checks and I bet 320 into the 560 pot. That was a bit larger than I intended but if it gets other players to fold, ok. CO calls & BB folds. Turn Qh. We both check. River 7d. I check, CO bets 640 into the 1200 pot and I fold. I'm down to 1610 chips.
I need to think further into why I decided to get involved with KJ in the 1st place and what I'm hoping for in the flop. Mainly I think a straight or straight draw on the flop. ok, then what do I do when it doesn't happen? Do I want to do as I did and be aggressive post flop in hopes of getting the other player(s) to fold, or should I just check and fold to any bet?
Hand 37 where I drowned in hoping to hit my flush draw! I'm SB w/10s Js and 1370 chips. UTG open raises 2 1/2 BB (400); action folds to me and I think about it and decide w/pot odds of 2 to 1, I call; BB folds. Flop Ks Qs 3d. Love at 1st sight!!! I don't have a nut flush draw, but with an As I'd have a Royal Flush and with a 9s I'd have a straight flush! Both very nice to have!!! Of course at this point I have neither!! I check and UTG bets 455 into the 960 pot. That's a more than I'd prefer to call on a flush draw and in hindsight, if I was planning to push this flush draw to the end, I'd have been better off going all-in instead of checking. I call. Turn 7h. No flush. I check again and UTG bets 320, I call. River Qc. Missed the flush and straight. :-/ I check and UTG bets 270, which for some reason I choose to call. UTG shows pocket 7's (7s 7c) hitting his set on the Turn. Somewhat weaker cards than I expected but still the winners! I'm down to 5 chips.
Hand 38. I have Kd Js. vs Ad 10d. Board plays out: 7d 10h 7h 2h 5h. I'm done.

Very poor play on my part. It was almost like I was playing on tilt.
Hand 6. I'm MP1 w/Qd Jh 1485 chips. Action folds to me and I limp in along w/MP2 and HJ. CO, who is short stack raises all-in w/his last 510 chips. Rest fold to me and I call, MP2 & HJ fold. CO shows Ah 9c. He has one overcard to me. The board plays out Ad 2c 8c 2s 5s. I'm down to 975 chips.
Hand 11. I'm the BTN w/Ah Kd and 655 chips. Action folds to me and I open raise 3 BB (120). SB folds and BB w/885 chips calls. Flop 5c 4d 9c. BB checks and I check. Turn 9s. BB checks and I bet 120 into the 260 pot; BB raises me all-in w/his last 805 chips. I think about it and wonder if he might have a 9 and likely he does as there is little other reason for him to make such a large raise. Anyway I call and indeed the BB shows 7h 9h. I'm outta there.
Both of those hands I played poorly and if I'd just been willing to sit back and be a bit patience I'd still be playing.

2 HU $2 + .15 End 2nd 112 hands
Another discouraging HU battle. I seemed to be doing ok, then tried putting some pressure on with decent cards, then they missed the flop. Other player folded a lot which made it difficult to pick up extra chips when I did have good cards. Just a 2 BB bet from SB had him folding most of the time. Same with raising post flop. In part I guess I lost my patience. I'm not sure how I could have been more aggressive as more often than not he folded to my aggression.
May add more tomorrow.

Mixed play but I made it to the money. Hand 93 I went for the flush draw and the other player made large bets I called. When the flush didn't hit I was down to 1100 chips. He just had an Ace with a better kicker than mine, but that was all it took to beat me.
Hand 93. Three players left, blinds 100/200. I'm SB w/Ad 9d and 3300 chips (3rd). BTN open raises to 500 and I call as does the BB. Flop 8d 4s 3d. Ah, so near yet so far from the nut diamond flush!! I check and the BB bets 800 into the 1500 pot; BTN folds and I call. Turn 2h. I now have a straight draw as well. I check and BB bets 1000 into the 3100 pot. I call. I doubt if I went all in it at this point, it would have made any difference to his calling me. That might have worked if I went all-in on the flop to his 800 raise. A bit late now to think of that. In any event I'd have been in no worse shape. River 8s. I miss my nut flush and straight. I check and so does the BB showing As Jh; an Ace with a higher kicker. I'm down to 1100 chips.
Hand 95. I didn't have to end here. I'm BB w/Ah 3c and 900 chips. BB limps in w/200 and I check. Flop 3s Js 2c. I hit middle pair and bet 200 into the 500 pot. BB raises me to 400 and I decide to go all-in w/my last 700 chips. They had a bigger hand than I expected from their pre-flop open bet. They call and show pocket K's (Kd Kh). I have outs but none hit and I'm done in 3rd place. At least I made the money this time, BUT I could have played my end hands better.

Another bad choice on last hand. I was BB w/ Kh 3s and 1040 chips; blinds 40/80, seven players. UTG & HJ limp in, rest fold to me and I check. Flop 5s Kd 7s. I bet 160 into the 280 pot, UTG+1 folds, HJ raises me to 320, I call. At that point I was probably best off folding. Though I paired my K I have a very weak kicker and it's likely the raiser has a K too which easily could have a better kicker. Turn Qh. I check and HJ bets 400 into the 920 pot, I raise all-in w/my last 720 chips. Another poor decision on my part. HJ calls, showing not only a better kicker but having hit two pair on the flop. I need a Q to show to chop the pot. River 10s and I'm outta there.
There's not much to say about the other hands. I didn't have much to work with and other players often limped in or made large bets pre-flop that made it look like it best I not jump in.

Mainly one bad hand. I had trip 3's on the flop, other play had AJ paired on the Turn. Unfortunately River was an A, so instead of having $7.37, I was down to $2.02.
9 SNG $2 + .25 End 6th 65 hands
To some degree this was a difficult session. A player to my right,VP 61, was betting more then 3 BB's many hands. Some hands show he had decent cards, other not so, and for awhile he was sucking out. It made it hard for me to take any action since he could bet before I did.
Hand 7. I was UTG w/pocket 9's (9h 9d), I limped in w/30; 6 other players joined in. Flop 3c Ks 6h. One overcard to my pair. All checked to the BTN who bet 210, SB & BB folded and I raised to 420, rest folded and BTN called leaving him w/265 chips. Turn 4d. We both check. River 4c. I check and the BTN goes all-in w/last 265 chips. I call. BTN shows Ac 7s. I win and have 2475 chips. I could have lost this one, but I felt his 1st bet was just because no-one else had; when he called my raise I was less certain, but he only checked on the Turn so I suspected he hadn't hit anything.
Hand 47. Six players left. I'm BB w/Ks 9s. and 1765 chips. Blinds 50/100. Action folds to SB who limps in and calls. SB is player I mentioned at start that is betting many hands. For some reason, this time, he did not raise pre-flop. Flop 8c 6d 7d. I have an open-ended straight draw. SB bets 100 and I call. Turn Kc. I pair my K. SB bets 100 and I call. River 6h. Pairs board. SB now bets pot of 600, and though I don't want to, I call. SB shows Ad 6s having hit trip 6's on the River. :-/ Since he was so willing to bet poor hands I don't know that I could have gotten him off his hand on the Turn. What I needed to consider more was, was he willing to make a large pot sized bet on the River with a likely non-wining hand and I didn't. Best I folded there. I'm down to 965 chips.
Hand 51. I get my chance to suck out against this same player. I'm HJ w/Qs Jd and 915 chips. UTG open raises 200 and I re-raise all-in w/my 915, rest fold and UTG calls showing Kh 7d. One overcard to me. The board plays out: 7h Ac 8d 4c Qd. I hit on the River and am back in the game w/1980 chips.
Hand 61. Another poor, costly choice, on my part. I'm on the BTN w/pocket 9's and 1420 chips. Blinds are 60/120. UTG open raises all-in w/1200 chips. Action folds to me and I decide to call hoping they only have overcards at best, rest fold and UTG shows pocket Q's (Qc Qs). Gulp. Bad judgement call again. The board plays out: Qd 4h 4s 6s 4c. I'm down to 220 chips.
Hand 63 I have pocket 10's vs Kc Qs and my 10's hold up. I'm back to 720 chips.
Hand 64 I'm BB w/Ks Jc and 600 chips after posting the BB. UTG limps in w/120 and I check. Flop Kh 10c Qh. I have an open-ended straight draw. I go all-in. UTG calls showing Qc 10h. Having hit two pair on the flop. Turn 6s. River 4d. I'm done.
River 4c.
Turn 6s. River 4d. I'm done.
2 HU $2 + .15 End 2nd 14 hands
Bad assumption on my part on last hand. Otherwise play was ok.
Hand 14. I'm SB w/Qd 3c, 1065 chips. I limp in for 30 and BB checks. Flop 3h Qh 7h. I hit two pair with the flop, but the flop shows a heart flush possible. BB open raises all-in w/1890 chips. Rats. I think about it a bit, and a few hands earlier he had slow played pocket A's, so I'm thinking if he really had the flush, would he jump all-in? I decide at best he's on a draw. I have two pair and could get a FH which would beat a flush anyway. I call. BB shows 9h 8h. Indeed he already had the flush. Turn 6h. River 3h. It's over.
