Tour 8288 $1.00 End 1387 146 hands Daily Dollar

I was playing OK up to hand 116 when I starting letting everything go to pot. At that point I had 21,709 Chips. I had Ac Jc.; blinds 200/400/ante 50; in HJ position. UTG limps in w/400, I raise to 1400, rest fold, he calls. Flop As 9d Ks. I pair my Ace. UTG checks and I bet 2000 into the 3800 pot, hoping to get him to fold. He calls. Turn Js. I now have 2 pair but board shows a possible spade flush. HJ bets all-in w/3235 chips and I call. Of course I should have folded and likely not made such a big bet on the flop in the 1st place.  He shows Ad Kd. Not the flush but the top two pair. I'm down to 15,024 chips.

Hand 119 I had K10o. Flop & Turn were QQ3J giving me an open-ended straight draw, so I called a 636 all-in. They had A2o and that carried the day. I'm down to 13,038.

Hand 124 I took a big hit. I had Ad 10c in CO. UTG+1 limped in for 400, I called, BTN folded, SB called and BB checked. Flop Js 10d 6c. I pair my 10. Everybody checks. Turn Qs. SB bets 800 into the 2050 pot, UTG+1 calls, and I decide to call as I now have a gutshot straight draw as well. River 10h. I now have trip 10's.  SB checks and UTG+1 goes all-in w/8491 chips. Crap. He hasn't really been betting, so could he really have something? Anyway I decide to go with my trip 10's w/an Ace kicker and call. He shows As Kc, having hit a straight on the Turn but not bet it. I'm down to 2747 chips.

Hand 129 I had a bit of luck. I had KJo vs pocket 9's. The board came out 523A4  and we chopped. Hand 130 my ATo held up against  KJo and pocket 4s; that got me back to 5562 chips. A slow decline to hand 146 where I decided to push all-in w/K9o and ended up against pocket K's and it was over.

Ok play at the stat then I got tired and played somewhat sloppy.

Hand 43 Strangest hand. I had 10d Jh on BTN. Flop 3s 8s 3h. Nothing. Turn Jd. I pair my J. River 3d. I have a FH. SB also stayed in play. I thought they might have J's full of 3's. They had Js 3c. They hit quad 3's on the River.

Mixed play but overall ok. Last hand  I had pocket 6's on the BTN, short stack, went all-in. Ended up against pocket A's. No hits for either of us, I lost.

Hand 19 early on I didn't understand. I had 8c 5c on the BTN. Action folded to me and I tried a blind steal by open raising 3 BB (150), SB called and BB folded. Flop Kc 4c 2s. I have a flush draw. SB bets 225 into the 350 pot and I decide to re-raise them to 450 to see if they are serious. That leaves me w/680 chips. They re-raise me to 750. Shoot. Well, I decide to go for it and hope for the flush and that the SB doesn't have any clubs, and re-raise all-in w/my last 680 chips. I expect to be called and likely lose based on their strong betting so far. Instead they fold and I win! Did they hit the wrong button?  If not, Why did they fold? What in my betting and the visible cards scared them away?

I might have played the last 3 of us better but overall I'm satisfied with my play. I had one bit of luck earlier when I had pocket 3's and went all-in against AK. My 3's held.

Last hand I had KQo. On the River the board showed 4 J 5 8 K and I decided to call a bit that put me all-in. Unfortunately they had KK and I was out at 3rd. Anyway I made the money.

2 HU $2 + .15 End 1st 11 hands

I played this one fairly aggressively and it worked ok for me. He didn't hit a situation where he was able to use my aggressiveness against me. Hand 10 he bet pretty aggressively and on the turn w/10 9 and a board of Q 2 9 7, I decided it was best I fold.

Hand 11 was a bit of a surprise to me as I expected him to have more than he did when he went all-in. I have Qs 4c as BB. I have 1770 chips to his 1200. He open raises 3 BB (60) and I call. Flop 3h 5s 6d. I have an open-ended straight draw. I min bet 20 into the 120 pot and the SB raises me to 180. I decide to call and see what the turn brings. Turn 2d. I hit my straight on the low side but he would need, at least, 4 7 to beat me. I check and he goes all-in w/970. I don't feel he can beat me but not sure what he might have. Not sure there is any logic to my feeling and I've been beat in these situations before where I've assumed he doesn't have the winning cards and this might be another one of those times. I call. SB shows   Ac Kh. Wow, not even a pair. I thought he might have a set too. In any event I would have beat that. The only card that would help him now would be a 4 and then we'd chop the pot. River 9h. It's over and I win.

Hand 5. Had a nice early win with my pocket 8's (8h 8c) hit a set on the flop of 6s 3d 8s. UTG open raised 3 1/2 BB (175) and had 3 callers when it got to me as SB, I called and so did the BB. That made for a nice 1050 pot pre-flop. I was the 1st to act after the flop. I debated slow playing it, but decided I was better off going all-in and push any others off possible straight & flush draws, so I bet 1475 into the 1050 pot. Everyone folded and I now had 2515 chips.

By hand 35 I was down to 1965 chips as the BTN w/Ad Qc, blinds 100/200. HJ limped in w/200 and I raised to 700, SB & BB folded, HJ called. Flop Qh 7c 2h. I paired my Q. HJ checked and I decided to go all-in w/my 1265 chips. Betting 1/2 the pot would have left me only 400 or so chips, so I felt I had nothing to lose going all-in since if he raised me I would have been pot committed anyway. Whatever he called my pre-flop raise with wasn't good enough for him to call my all-in and I was back in fairly decent shape with 2965 chips.

Hand 38 I was HJ w/Kc Jh. MP1 & MP2 limped in w/200 and I decided to join the party. SB called & BB checked. Flop Ah 3s Jc. I paired my J, but there was an Ace on the board and with 4 other players in the pot, one could easily have one. All 4 folded to me. Hmmm. Someone is slow playing or maybe no-one has an Ace, so I decide to bet 800 into the 1000 pot to find out. WOW no callers!!! I now have 3765 chips.

Hand 43 was one I should have folded, likely at pre-flop to the MP2 players 3 BB open raise. Blinds 120/240 ante 25. I'm BB w/Ah 5h. As I said MP2 open raised 3 BB (720), rest folded to SB who called and since it only cost me 480 toward a 1905 pot, I decided it was worth gambling on a heart nut flush to see what the flop brought and I call. Flop 2h Ad 9c. Not much toward my flush, but I did pair my Ace, but I  have a weak kicker. SB bets 240 into the 2385 pot. Darn, I hate those small bets when I have something but not strong enough to want to take much of a stand and/or push. I call and so does MP2. Turn 2s. The board has paired and isn't real help to me. SB again bets 240, this time into the 3105 pot. Another small bet. I don't like it but I call again as does MP2. River 6s. Again no help to me. One more time the SB bets 240. Do you think he has my number??? Sure he has, I & MP2 call. SB shows Ac Js. Only a paired Ace but a much better kicker than me. MP2 shows pocket Q's (Qh Qc). I'm down to 2225 chips.

I feel ok about the initial pre-flop call. If I hit my chip stack will be in excellent shape. I don't recall today how far we were from the the top 10 when I decided to play that hand or where I was in the ranking and likely that influenced my decision(s) to continue play rather than to fold. I'm not sure how one gets off those possible winning hands having top pair when no-one is making any significant bets or raises. Since the winner had a J for a kicker I tend to doubt he'd been easily scared away and he had me covered by approx 1100 chips.

Hand 51 I had a lucky flop. I'm SB w/4s 7s, 1260 chips. Blinds are 200/400/ante 50. Action folds to the CO who limps in w/400, BTN & I call, BB checks. Flop 9h 4c 7c. Nice flop for me as I have two pair. I decide to slow play it and check; so does everyone else. :-/ Turn 3d. This time I decide to go for it and go all-in w/my last 1060 chips into the 1950 pot. I don't have much to lose as with the blinds and ante's I'll be blinded out in two more rounds. BB folds, CO calls, and BTN folds. CO shows 10h 8c, having an open ended straight draw from the flop. Since I have a 7 I cut their outs by 1. River Kc. I win and have 4070 chips

Hand 54 I give back some chips. I'm HJ w/Ad Ks, seven of us at the table. Action folds to me and I decide to try a blind steal, open raising 2 1/2 BB (1000). Rest fold to the BB who calls. Flop 2c 8s 5c. No help to me. BB checks and I check. Turn 10s. Still no help and I can't expect to have more than a pair of A's or K's if I hit one of them on the River. BB bets all-in w/2665 into the 2550 pot. I have him covered but would have less than 300 chips if lose. I'd love to see if he is bluffing!! BUT that's not the goal of this session. It's to make the top 10, so I fold. I'm back to 2920 chips.

Hand 57. I'm BB w/2270 chips and 8s 4h. Blinds are 250/500/ante 50. UTG limps in w/500, rest fold to SB who calls and I check. Flop 4d 5h 6c. I pair my 4 and have a gutshot straight draw; the other players could have a straight already, or open ended straight draws. SB checks and I make a min bet of 500 into the 1850 pot and both UTG & SB fold. I didn't expect that at all. That helps and I have 4120 chips.

Hand 59 I have Ac Qc on the BTN. Action folds to me and I bet 2 1/2 BB (1250), SB (14,875 chips) & BB (4730 chips) both fold and I pick up  the 1100 pot.

Hand 63 I'm the BB w/3s 8h; blinds 300/600/ante 75, six players at table. To my surprise all fold to me and I pick up the 1350 pot. Hand 64 I'm SB w/Ah 4d. UTG & BTN limp in w/600, I call & BB checks. Flop 7h 5c As. I pair my Ace but have a weak kicker. I min bet 600 into the 2850 pot, BB and rest fold. Both the BTN & BB have a little over 10,000 chips, so they have no need to fight. UTG could have used some chips but the Ace must have scared him away. Next hand it was over and UTG ended up 11th.

Not much to write about. I played fine until the last hand when I called all-in on the River where it was likely the player had a straight one higher than mine. :-/ I didn't want to fold, I told myself he probably had the 7 and he did! Maybe I could have bet stronger sooner and got him off the draw (he needed a 6 or an Ace on the River or he had nothing), but he had an open ended straight from the flop so he might have gone for the draw anyway.

I'm BB w/6c 4s. UTG limps in w/60, as does MP1 & MP2 and the BTN, I call. Flop 3d 2h 5s. I hit a straight and not an obvious one. I decide to slow play it and check. UTG bets 60 into the 330 pot, MP2 & BTN call, I raise to 180. UTG folds, MP2 & BTN call. Turn 8c. That wasn't a card I wanted to see. A face card would have been very nice. I bet 250 into the 930 pot, MP2 calls, BTN folds. At this point I didn't want to bet too much and scare the other players away. Maybe it would have been better if I went all-in to make a possible draw very pricey and  take a 930 pot. River 6s. Another card I didn't want to see. If the other player had a 7 , I'm beat. :-/ I make another small bet of 270 into the 1430 pot and MP2 raises me to 1380 which will put me almost all-in if I call. Phooey. I don't want to fold and I don't want to call; I'm between a rock and a hard place where the best option for me is to fold and lick my wounds, but still be there to continue the fight. I call. and indeed MP2 shows the 7 and I'm down to 33 chips. Next hand I'm gone.

Two hands earlier I had a laugh at myself and/or to myself. I wasn't in this hand. Two players were battling it out, UTG & BB. Flop was Ac 7c 7s. Turn Kc. Flush looks possible. Not sure what the paired 7's might do. River Js. I was still mainly thinking one of them might have a club flush. Then as I looked at the cards I said to myself, "well one of them might have a Q 10 to make a straight" and then dismissed it as unlikely. They turn over the cards, UTG has Kd 6d and BB had 10d Qc, that darn old QT and they win with it!  No wonder I'm on the losing side of those kind of situations so often; even watching other players I still dismiss that option!! :-/

2 HU $5 + .25 End 1st 29 Hands

This session went better. The other player was very aggressive, so I felt I needed to take a more passive approach. The one plus on his aggressiveness is that he would fold some hands pre-flop so that led me to believe when he was betting he likely had something. He did surprise me once here in that he had a weaker hand than I expected.

Hand 14 I was SB w/Ah 4d and 1030 in chips. I limped in w/20 and BB called. Flop 4h 5s Qs. I have trip 4's and an Ace kicker. Nice!! BB bets the pot of 40 and I call. Turn 3d. BB bets the pot of 120 and I call. River 8h. BB bets the pot of 360 and I raise all-in w/my last 860 chips. BB calls. BB shows 4c 7c, also having trip 4's but with only a 7 kicker. I win, he is down to 920 chips.

Hand 15 I was hoping to finish it up. I was BB w/Ad Qh. SB open raises 2 1/2 BB (50), I re-raise to 130 and he re-raises me going all-in w/his last 870 chips, I call. He shows pocket J's (Jc Js). I have two overcards. The board plays out:  5d 5s Jh  8h  4d. He wins and has the lead back with 1840 chips to my 1160. So much for taking him out!

Hand 24. This was the hand he surprised me with. I'm SB w/pocket 7's (7d 7h) and I open raise 2 1/2 BB (75), BB calls. Flop 7c Ah As. I hit my set and a FH with the boards paired A's. BB checks and I bet the pot of 150 and the BB raises all-in w/their 1650 in chips. I think about it for a bit and decide to call, hoping they have no more than trip A's and if they do that they don't hit a FH with them. BB shows Kh Qc. NOTHING. As long as we don't have a KK or QQ turn & river I'll win; well if it's an AA turn & river we chop. Turn Ks. River 4c. Phew. I win. They now have 450 in chips.

Hand 33. I'm BB w/Qc 10h. SB open raises all-in for 390 and I call. They show Ah 7c, one overcard. Flop 5d Js 10s. I pair my 10. Turn 7h. They pair their 7. River Ks. It's over and I win!

2 HU $2 + .15 End 2nd 33 Hands

Not particularly good play nor terrible play. Never really got a grip on the session. Other player had a habit of betting 90 and I was never able to get a clear idea of what that meant and usually folded. Times I called he had at least a small pair at the end BUT not necessarily at point where he made the bet. Whenever I raised him by 2x (180) he called. That's about it.

Generally decent play. Was patience and in the end made it to the money. Hand 87 I decided to go for the nut flush and straight draw on the River and didn't hit. Lost to a straight and only had 360 chips left. Last hand I had KTo vs big stack 7Qs. They hit the flop, turn & river!!! 7c th Qc Qs Qh. Hard to beat that.

2 HU $2 + .20 End 2nd 97 Hands

Outside of playing a bit too passively my play was ok except for two hands. Hands 63 where I decided he didn't have a 9 in his hand with the 5 7 3 9 9 board, in spite of his bet (earlier he had been showing he had the goods the few times I got to see his cards), and hand 69 where I didn't think he had the Ace after I hit the K on the River (2 7 A 8 K). Both of those hurt my chip stack and I was not able to recover from them.

Mixed play. Poor early play and last hand play. Hand 2 I had pocket 2's and hit a set on the Flop, but the flop was 3 hearts. Turn & River were also a heart. Stayed in w/the betting and was down to 1050 chips.

Hand 11 I had a nice boost. I'm SB w/pocket J's (Jd Js). I raise limps of 40 to 100, they all call. Flop Jc 10d 2d. I hit my set. I check, UTG bets 120 into the 400 pot, MP calls, CO folds and I raise all-in to 670. Both call. Turn Jh. I have quad J's! River 6c. I'm back in the game w/2410 chips.

Hand 12 I give a bunch w/A6s vs A5s that hit the wheel straight on the Turn.

Hand 24 I push Q4o that gave me two pair on the 4h Qh Ad flop. Unfortunately I was up against top two pair, AQ,  that also hit on the flop. I eventually went all-in and that was all she wrote.

2 HU $2 + .20 End 1st 16 Hands

A player after my own heart. :-) He started out with some way over the top betting that I decided it was best I fold to. Then on hand 12 I had my big win.

I had Ah 4d as SB. I open raised 2 BB (40) and BB re-raised to 60, I called. Flop Kd As 2s. I paired my Ace. BB bet 40 into the 120 pot and I called. Turn 3c. I now have a wheel straight draw. BB bets 80 into the 200 pot and I call. River 5c. I hit my straight! BB bets the pot of 360.  I wonder if he has a straight too and decide to raise him to 740. He re-raises me to 1120 and I re-raise him all-in w/my last 490 chips. Sure hope he doesn't have something like 4 6. BB calls and shows pocket 2's (2h 2d). I win and he's down to 180 chips.

Why after my own heart? Well he hit his set on the flop so was in pretty good position vs AA KK that I might have paired with the board. The 5 on the flop was the only scary card and should have made him wonder if I'd hit a straight and that was why I was raising him. And like me, certainly hoping I didn't and willing his set to win. He might have thought I only had AK, top two pair, which he had beat. In his position I hope I'm starting to learn to be more careful. We went for a few more hands.

Hand 13 he had K7o to my K2s; he went all-in and I called. The board played out so we chopped the pot. Hand 14 I had KJo vs 9To, two over cards and another all-in. He paired his 9 and doubled up to 360. Hand 16 I had pocket K's as the SB and open raised 2 BB (60) which is what I had done just about every hand we played that I led betting in, so not unusual on my part. He called. Flop 8d 2h Js. He goes all-in and I call. He shows Jh 4c having paired his J on the flop. Turn Ks that seals his fate. River 10d. I win.

That was a bit scary with a heart flush possible. I decide to take a chance and go all-in w/870. BTN w/6035 calls. They show pocket 7's and I'm done!!

Mixed play. I seemed to keep going from up a bit then back down a bit over and over and over. High chip count was 5856 at hand 22. Considering everything, I could have played much worse; I didn't make any real big costly mistakes, but by the time the blinds got to 100/200/ante 20 my chip stack was hurting and I couldn't find any decent opportunities to try all-in. This one was just poor play on the last two hands by me. Don't know why I was so willing to let my chips slip away so soon. Maybe the haste I entered this one when I saw it was near Late Reg and still a bit of tilt from the LBT I'd just busted from.

Hand 10 I was SB w/Kc Qc. UTG+1 open raised w/3 BB (90), BTN called, & I did too, to see what the flop might bring. Flop 4d As Jc. One club, but I do have a nut high straight draw. I check and UTG+1 short stack goes all-in w/last 275 chips. I figure he probably has an Ace, but decide to call them anyway. They show Ad Js, having hit top two pair on the flop. I need two clubs or a 10. Turn 5s. River 4h. I'm down to 1065 chips. I don't feel too bad about this one as UTG+1 only had 365 chips at the start of the hand and though they waited until the flop to toss in the rest of their chips there was a slight chance they only hit the small part of the flop.

Hand 11. I'm BB w/pocket 9's (9c 9h). Action folds to SB who has 915 chips and they open raise 3 BB (90). I re-raise them to 180, in case they are just trying a steal, and they re-raise me all-in. Shoot, not what I was expecting. Without a lot of thought I decide to call them. They show pocket Q's (Qd Qs). Not looking good for me. Flop 3c Ad Kh. Turn 8s. River 3s. I'm down to 135 chips. Next hand I was gone.

Tour 42,536 $2 + .20 Won Entry, End 37,207 16 Hands The Big Little Tournament

Played OK up to last hand. I may have been a little on tilt from the previous hand when I had pocket 8's and bet 100 into the 175 pot after a K 2 5 flop and was raised to 275. I folded. In and of itself that wouldn't have put me on tilt beyond a little disappointment I couldn't cash in on them, BUT next hand this same player raised me all-in. He wasn't the player that beat me, it was someone else I wasn't even concerned about, nor was there time to seriously consider them before I was already all-in.

Hand 12. I'm BB w/Kh Jh. UTG limps in w/50, rest fold to SB who calls & I check. Flop 5c 4h 8s. SB bets 50 into the 150 pot, I & UTG call. Turn Ks. SB checks, I bet 150 into the 300 pot, UTG calls and SB raises all-in w/2360. Darn. He over bet me last hand, now he goes all-in on my 150 bet & UTG call, after a check. Grrrrrr. Does he really have something? A pair of K's isn't that hard to beat & he could have a K w/a better kicker. Could he have a set? Anyway I decide I'm not going to "let him get away with it again" and I call!! Not a smart way to play, I know. UTG calls as well. What? I wasn't even thinking about them. UTG shows 7s 6s. SB shows Kc Js. Same cards as me except unsuited. We would chop the pot, he didn't have anything better than me. That actually surprised me. I expected more from him.

Alas UTG's 76 hit a straight on the flop. :-/ Skewered right there.

One tournament down, one to go. Should I even play the other one? I might be better off by unregistering and picking up the $22 in tournament dollars they way I'm playing so far today.
