Tour $1.25 + .15 30 End 1-5 83 hands Satellite to MSOP #1

Payout was 1-6 Entry, 7 - $4.50. The regular entry fee for MSOP #1 is $5 + .50 which is easily within my bankroll, but it's nice to get it for less. :-)

I was a late register but not too far behind and was able to be in the running much of the time or near it.

Hand 43. I'm the BTN w/As Kh and 2249 chips. Seven players at the table. Blinds 100/200. Action folds to the CO who open raises 3 BB (600), I call & SB & BB fold. Flop 2c Qs 10c. No immediate help to me, but I do have a gutshot straight draw. CO bets 800 into the 1500 pot and I decide to raise him to 1600 and maybe get him off the hand. Hmm, looking at the numbers, that makes the pot total 3900 and it will only cost him 800 to call me, giving him pots of 4.9 to 1.Of course I couldn't bet much more as I only had 49 chips left. :-) CO calls. River Js. Ah, that's more like it. I hit the gutshot!!! :-) CO bets 200 and I call putting in my last 49 chips. CO shows Kc Qd. They have a gutshot straight draw. River Qc, giving the CO trip Q's, but my straight carries the day. I now have 4798 chips.

Hand 54. I'm the SB and once more have AK but this time suited, As Ks. Blinds are 120/140 and I have 4943 chips. Five players at the table. CO opens with a limp of 240, the BTN folds, I call and the BB checks. Flop 7s 3c 8s. I have a nut flush draw. I bet 240 into the 845 pot and the CO raises me to 1200. Shoot. What to do? He might have hit a set or two pair both of which I can beat if I hit my nut flush. Pot odds were 2.4 to one, but I don't recall I thought about that at that time. With 9 outs I have 35% change of hitting my card on the Turn or River. Anyway I decide to call. Turn 5d. Missed. Still nothing has changed to stop my nut flush from winning if I can hit it. I only have a 20% chance on the River. I check and the CO bets 960 into the 3245 pot. I still have pot odds of 4.4 to 1, and though I won't appreciate my dip in stack size if I lose I'd be in excellent shape with a win. I call. River 7c. Phooey. No only did I miss my flush, I don't even have a pair. The board has paired. That means if the CO has hit a FH, even if I'd hit my nut flush I'd have been beat. I check and the CO bets a lowly 240 into the 5165 pot. At that price it's worth it to me to see what he has and I call. CO shows Ad 8h. Not much really, but better than what I have. I'm down to 2523 chips.

Next hand, 55, I let some more chips get away. I have 7s 8h and after the flop & turn I had a chance for a gutshot straight and since the betting wasn't large I went for it. In the end I didn't hit and am now down to 1678 chips w/blinds of 150/300.

Hand 59 I have pocket A's (As Ad) when the UTG goes all-in w/950 chips. I call and they show Ac Qh. It's looking pretty good for me. The board played out: 7h 7c 3s 4d 8c. My Ace's hold!! I have 2828 chips.

Hand 61 I decide I should give some of them back to the other players. I have pocket 7's in the CO position. Nine players at the final table, blinds 150/300. Action folds to the HJ who open raises 2 BB (600), I call, BTN folds, SB & BB call. Flop 6s 3c Kd. SB & BB check, HJ bets 300, I, SB, & BB call. Turn 8h. We all check this time. River 9h. SB bets 1200 into the 3825 pot, BB folds, HJ calls and I fold. SB shows pocket 7's ... the SAME AS ME....and the HJ shows pocket 10's. I'm down to 1903 chips.

Hand 66. I'm UTG w/As 10d and 1703 chips. Blinds are 200/400 w/50 ante. I open raise all-in. MP1 raises all-in w/2705 chips, everyone else folds. MP1 shows Kd Qd. I have one overcard. Flop 4h 5h 9h. Turn 4c. River 2c. My Ace high holds. I have 4456 chips.

Hand 74. I'm UTG w/Ad 4d. Blinds are 250/500 w/50 ante. I limp in to see if a nut flush may be possible, CO & SB call, BB checks. Flop Ks 3d 7d. I'm 4/5th's there! SB checks, BB bets 500 into the 2350 pot, I call, CO & SB fold. Turn 8s. Missed my flush. BB bets 500 into the 3350 pot and I call again. River 9d. BINGO, I hit my nut flush. Now, how many chips can I get from the BB? BB checks and I bet 2500 into the 4350 and BB folds. If I'd bet smaller maybe he's have called, but he could see, as well as I, a possible flush out there. I have 7256 chips, 4th highest.

Hand 78. Poker can be cruel. I'm CO with pocket 9's (9h 9d) and 8706 chips. Blinds are 300/600 w/75 ante. Action folds to me and I open raise 2 BB (1200), BTN folds, SB goes all-in w/3895 chips, BB folds, and I call. Not sure why, as 9's are not that strong and for the SB to go all in, very likely they have something that will beat them. Pot odds were 2.3 to 1, but even so, I'm in a pretty good spot to win the entry and just passing doesn't hurt my chip count all that much. SB shows pocket K's (Ks Kd). Flop 5c 8c 5s. Neither helps nor hurts me. Turn Kc. Now THAT hurts me as it gives the SB a FH, K's full of 5's. Next is where poker can be cruel, it would only have been crueler if the turn & River had been reversed. River 9s. Now I have a FH as well, 9's full of 5's. I'm back to 4811 chips & 5th in line of the seven players left.

By hand 86 I'd won a couple more pots but two other players finished this session out. Kh 3d vs 8c 9c. The clubs hit a flush and that was it.
