Play was going along nicely and then I was beat twice w/2 pair. The 1st one I should have folded because he could have a flush & he did. I had 56o, he had AJs. Flop 7h kh 6d. Paired my 6. Turn 5d gave me two pair. River 10d. Gave him his flush. That didn't hurt too bad as I only went from 1930 to 1710. I only min bet on the Turn and maybe if I'd have bet more aggressively I might have got him to fold, but with AJ but I'm not sure, plus the board showed a possible straight too at the Turn, so it was a bit risky to bet too much at that point. Except for the call on the River I feel I did ok with the hand.
More hurtful came two hands later. I had 7s 8s and open raised to 2 BB (60), BB called. Flop 3d 7d Ah. I pair my 7. I bet 60 into the 120 pot and BB raises me to 120. I call. I figure there is a good chance he has the Ace but I wanted to see the turn. Turn 8c. I now have two pair!! I bet 180 into the 360 pot and the BB raises me to 360. I'm still thinking he has only a pair of A's so decide to go for the kill and re-raise all-in w/my last 1575 chips (he has 705 left), and I expect most likely he'll fold. He doesn't!! :-/ He calls and shows Ac 7h, also hitting two pair on the flop and a better one than mine. River Js. I'm down to 510 chips and wasn't able to recover from that.
Once again I'm not taking the time to fully think about what the other player might have when he ups the ante against me. I gave him credit for a pair of A's but didn't seriously consider that he might have two pair as well with his A's being the top pair that would beat me! Hopefully I'll learn before I go broke at this!!
